Bulldogs will host Alabama State Sunday morning
Alabama A&M fans looking for different venue for church should check out Elmore Gym Sunday morning.
A&M will host Alabama State in an important Southwestern Athletic Conference game, beginning at 11 a.m. The game will be televised on ESPN2.
Prior to the game, Troy Garner, pastor of the Fellowship of Faith Church, will hold a worship service inside Elmore Gym, beginning at 8:30 a.m.
"They can come and hear the word and see a great game," A&M coach Vann Pettaway said.
The game has been a hot topic ever since the Hornets downed the Bulldogs last month in Montgomery for their first conference victory. It's been an even hotter topic because is being played on Sunday morning. Pettaway recognizes that.
"The game has everybody up in arms," he said. "There's pressure from that because you don't want to interfere with people's worship day, but this is the way society has gone. We're not the only school that plays on Sunday. The Atlantic Coast Conference plays every Sunday."
While playing on Sunday is an issue, the game is an even bigger issue.
Both teams enter the game 6-5 in league play, three games back of league-leading Southern.
