ASU VS AAMU Sunday on ESPN 2


Nice win State.

GR hates to see a team have to play the refs like that. But yall didnt beyotch about it and you still won.

It appears that anything can happen at the SWAC tournament. Any team can pull off a win. Bama State, you looked good in front of all those households.
 
Free throw shooting and a GOOD weight program is what we need... we were horrible from the free throw line.... Obbie didnt step up in the last minutes of the game... he took about 3 shoots the entire last 5 minutes. Only bright spot from this game was Mike Ford for AAMU.

also VERY ENERGETIC crowd... most people ASU has ever brought to Elmore... it was slow early on but students eventually got in there.
 
Some of those ill-advised three pointers AAMU took hurt them. Some of those 3's appeared to have come from (5 point land).

It appears that anything can happen, but I see Bama St getting to the finals if they play hard with a young team. :nod:

He aight... made some big 3 pointers... but no superstar....he didnt have no defense. What you think about Mike Ford now?

We HAVE to gell as a team before the tournament... Individual talent there isnt a team in the SWAC with more talent, but its like everyone playing for there PERSONAL numbers. I think they honestly try to see who can have the most points between each other. We got 3 players who average more than 16 points and we are in 5th place.... no excuse.
 
Great win Hornets!

Lowlights:

1 - Both teams need to go to Free Throw Bootcamp. Are other SWAC teams that bad from the "charity stripe"?

2 - Refs just refused to call fouls on A&M most of the game. Even though they were at home, it was still more than terrible.

Highlights:

1 - Hornets played good ball regardless of Refs calls.

2 - Hornet players seemed to understand their role and didn't go much outside of what their role was.

A&M has great prototype athletes on their team. They have size, speed, and are very talented. If they ever decide to call a play.... any play, they would win almost every game.
 
GR thinks you guys are missing the point that those are two bad poorly coached teams. GR will give Jackson the benefit of the doubt. But after watching Pettaway coach again, its amazing how that dude has a job. There is no structure, no team concept, nothing solid about what he does. Does he just role the ball out on the court and tell the kids to run up and down the court during practice?

That game looked like the 99 Magic City Classic.
 
The incompetent AD from Grambling did do something right. Just like watching Grambling on TV there are some things we in the SWAC should not let the rest of the country see. Elmore Gym is one of them. The A&M AD should have turned ESPN down till yall get your stuff together.

There was a lack of play calling on ASU's behalf because they were being pressed on a majority of possessions down the courts leading to an easy advantage after breaking the press.
 
They announced during the game that ESPN.COM is doing a story on Freda and Lewis Jackson. I think its due out this week.
