I read most of the Apocrypha writings and found them to be very thought provoking and entertaining. At best, they are questionable historical writings put together by the independent thoughts of man (i.e. NOT GOD-BREATHED). Thus, the Apocrypha writings are not inspired and should not be used for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness
Romans 3:1-2
- What advantage then hath the Jew? or what profit is there of circumcision?
- Much every way: chiefly, because that unto them were committed the oracles of God.
The oracles of God (OT scriptures) given to the Jews were written in Aramaic and Hebrew, not Greek.
The Protestant Church rejects the apocrypha as being inspired, as do the Jews, but in 1546 the Roman Catholic Church officially declared some of the apocryphal books to belong to the canon of scripture because these book supports their belief of Salvation by works and Purgatory.
Jesus references the Old Testament ( The Law, the Prophets, and the Psalms), but never the Apocrypha writings;Neither did any other New Testament writers references the Apocrypha writings.
2 John 1:10-11
- If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:
- For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.
If we use any means to support our view, Are we seeking God?s View?
Is the book of Jasher the inspired work of God? It is not included in the 66 books, but is referred to twice (two witness rule) in the scriptures. Also, we see the scriptures refer to the prophecy of Enoch, which is not included in the 66 Books. When you read these, and other books, referred to in the scriptures, does that make them whole with the scriptures? Or does the Book of Life refer to lies to substantiate themselves? Also in the Lost Books, you have to detailed chronicles of the patriarchs. And, until the last 50-100 years, the Apocrypha was ALWAYS included with the bible, as it was translated with the rest of the books by King James.

And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jasher ‡35? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day.
