Alcorn looks to relocate 2010 Classic

This is a real slippery slope. I understand where the people at Alcorn is coming from but here is the one major thing that will come into play if the game is move to home and home.

What is now a game that generates annual revenue for both teams, will become a game that will generate revenue every other year for both teams if it is moved to a home and home situation. That can make a huge difference in each program's operating budget.

Not really because 200K is 200K. This is what I tell people about our TNState game...for those who want the game in Jackson. If we could guarantee only around 20K fans in Jackson every other year, it's the same thing as getting a payout every year. So when the Alcorn game is in Jackson and it is our game, we don't have to split anything. In the end though, Alcorn is either going to move some games back to Jackson or take a loss if their team is good because instead of getting revenue for 45K fans, they will only get it for 25K (unless they plan to have $40 general admission tickets). This game is not really a Classic...it's just another game in Jackson. BCF is not a novelty in Jackson like it is in most cities that host classics.

What Alcorn needs to worry about is getting a good team on the field. The rest will work itself out after that.

I would not do that.

If that is done JSU could potentially lose money. Homecoming for JSU is going to be a money game regardless of the opponent. The very fact that Alcorn is playing JSU will attract enough people on its own. There is no need to trick it up.

Thats jus stupid why put a big game that would make money anyway for homecoming!

I don't care what they do. If they move it to Corn then fine
if it stays in Jackson thats fine also.
.... but I've noticed for the past so many years that Alcorn fans do not support HOME games. Homecoming every year they have about 5,000 fans....
when SU or GSU visits the reservation, alcorn have about 9 or 10k brave-fans to show up and the rest of the stadium is packed with SU/GSU fans.
Alcorn fans ONLY travel to JACKSON! Or is it that they only pay to see Alcorn play JSU? Which is it?
The crowds they bring to Jackson are 5 and 6x larger than their HOMECOMING crowds. Which I think is CRAZY!

So if their fans ONLY pay to see Alcorn play JSU then It might benefit them... b/c they will have about 15-17k brave fans show up in their stadium. which wouldn't fill up the stadium w/o JSU fans showing up...
But if its true that Alcorn fans only show up in Jackson then Having the game at home will be a low brave-fan draw just like the rest of their home games.

so I say they're gonna do what they wanna do and I'm not going to cry about it. B/C I'm a true JSU fan and I'll be wherever I got be to see my Tigers play. The mafia will be there in full force and having the game on their home turf will not lower our chances of Winning the football game. (ask Valley)

The CCC has never been a "BIG" game to me. Its just a regular game. I don't think about it until that week rolls around. So the "CLASSIC" title can be erased. Make it Home-Away, I'll be fine with it. (Just as long as its a DAY game  B/C those deer at night :shame: SCARY! )

I understand why Alcorn would want the game at Lorman! Some Alcorn fans feel like they are at a Jackson home game when they come. But if u have never been down to Lorman there its one way in one way out, deer crossings, all the time no where to stay or nothing, traffic would be horrible and like they said earlier when the game is in Jackson there are events all around the game, places to stay, eat and shop! It would be like moving the BC to Grambling or SU! U cant see it happening and I am so serious moving the game to Alcorn would be a bad move it is so damm kuntry down there its horrible!

Clearly you've never been to an Alcorn/SU game

What do u mean?

Because that's what we endure every trip we make to lorman and we love it. Tha't what makes the reservation the reservation.

Ten miles of bumper-bumper traffic, parking in the fields and on the shoulder of the highway, walking miles to get to the game by the 2nd qtr, sitting on the hump like a pile of fire ants.

It's call HBCU football baby!

Thanks blue, some of these cats seem to amaze me. The sad thing about it is we sit in traffic and have trouble finding parking when playing in Jackson.

Blue I understand completely what you are saying. Alcorn gameday is great when they play SU and GSU at home. And JSU would be even bigger than that. Back when it was on the Reservation it was always packed. Alcorn will make plenty of Money and a Lot of money will flow into the casinos and maybe port gibson so I uderstand where they are coming from. I say move it back. Save me a trip every other year Cause I be dayum if I will sit in all that traffic. I love the tigers and bleed blue but I would not go to this game often just to hectic. JSU will try to roll 30000 deep and that will be unglier than any SU/ASU game

Look, an azz whooppin' iz an azz whoopin' no matter the venue. Work on getting a better team, then worry about the wood shed. After all these years some schools haven't changed their mentality and still wondering why they have losing records. They must want espn2 to televise the game rather than espnu. :smh:

I agree... That's HBCU Football  (Which is beautiful)
But BLUE, things will be HECTIC if JSU and Alcorn play in Lorman. It will 4x as hectic as the ASU/SU game. Alcorn and JSU fans togehter in Lorman? :shame:
To be honest: Things will be so congested that a good # of fans wouldn't get to see the game b/c they would be stuck in PG trying to get up the stretch to the see the game
Vicksburg would love that though... LOL The casinos would be on cloud 9

but we shall see how things go b/c it sounds like the Braves have their minds made up. 2010 is just around the corner

You do hit to have 2 separate big pay days. With your logic, JSU should play Southern for homecoming.

You don't play Alcorn or SU for homecoming because those games already draw big crowds.

" "Looking from an Alcorn perspective, I can't really blame them," said Avis Heath, a JSU fan who went to the game at Alcorn in 1993. "The core fans are going to go. But it's such an inconvenience for anyone who's not already there. It's so hard to get down there and get situated and get in. Most people are going to say it's not even worth it, and they're right for the most part."
.

Get Ready agrees with that guy

 ok y'all really don't know do you?

Blue JSU and alcorn has been at 60000 before. Even last year we had 42000 and that was an undercount. Add to that the folks who go just to tailgate and it would be a logistical nightmare. SU travels but Alcorn vs JSU is just like JSU vs SU and it will get ugly. Super ugly

Alcorn can do whatever it pleases, but isn't getting paid every year better than once every two years. And their stadium only holds about 22,500. However, not everything is about money. Alcorn's AD might be looking at the homefield advantage issue and that home game environment on campus.

Thats what he wants.
They want people to see their campus and try and get the enrollment up.
I don't think its about money... not at all.

again, I don't care what happens  As long as my Tigers keep winning :flippy:

You can tell when the JSU folk come around, not only can't they count, but they don't even know what stadium they're in when counting.

But since you kountry dome stadium carrying seats coons brought it up.

So it's trying to come back but we need the corn to get to winning again. Unlike the MCC in a true nuetral site and folks come for the event and not the game. The CCC has always been about the game so if one team sucks the crowds will reflect that.

smh LOL

HELLO DUMB DUMB! Why are you comparing JSU/SU attendance to JSU/ASU attendance?
Make your point.
