Ntelekt stated.
PAST glory should be reflected upon and learn from.
This is all I've been saying A&M...

. What I'm saying is that A&M does not have that right to boast or down grade anything because nothing has been done by A&M, that correlates with the present & the past. We'll take away all of the things Alcorn did before you all got here & start with the day yall joined the swac. The fact remains that in major sports Alcorn has two or three championships while A&M has none in either football or basketball. (There you have it...no crutch needed)
Ya see?...I coulda SWORN that the talk here was STRICTLY FOOTBALL! I was basing everything I said on football. My "tradition" piece CAN be applied to any sport, but I've only talked FOOTBALL here. In THIS case, you're using basketball as a crutch.
Since we've been in the SWAC you all haven't done more than AAMU...let's be real about it. In regard to the past, as you say...WE WEREN'T HERE, so that point isn't applicable. As far as the PRESENT (which I would think includes the past few years), the only thing you've done to us was win 1 out of 3 games.
Nobody's trying to take away what y'all did in the past...for what? We weren't included in that past...we weren't around to be able to alter/influence/prevent that past, so THAT is why WE don't focus on what YOU'VE done. We've got our own stuff to worry about!
The only Alcorn team("traditional" or not) I'm concerned with are the ones we've faced since we've been in the conference.
*shrugs shoulders*
All A&M should be doing is respecting their elders & learning from them how to be a champion in the SWAC---period. If you don't take heed to what I'm saying you will end up like your counterpart Ala. st.
That "respect your elders" doesn't really apply here when we're talking about COMPETITION. What?....y'all wanted us to come into the SWAC and just let be run over from jump...not even trying to win? I hope not, because you know that didn't happen. The only thing that we have to "wait" for is for us to be able to build a "SWAC tradition" of our own. The only thing we need to accomplish that is TIME.
With time, you gain opportunity...
With opportunity, you gain experience...
With experience, you gain a better edge to be more successful...
And THAT is what helps to form a "good" tradition.
And that's all good, but in the meantime...we ain't layin' down for nobody, either!

Past glory SHOULD be reflected upon and learned from...but THAT'S ALL YOU CAN DO WITH IT! Tradition does NOT play the games...tradition does NOT give you a 7 point advantage before the contest starts....tradition is something that you should want to build on with FUTURE success, but that ish ain't automatic!![]()

Ntelekt,
This is where you are wrong and this is why your program will not be a continuous success. You can bring in anyone you want but you will never win more then one SWAC title per decade. Last year, I told you that some teams have ceiling and yours is one of them. A lot of people had TNState in the top 10 last year and got a lot of. But I told them that TSU could pull off a better season becasue they have tradition, pride, and a following. Teams can slump like TNState and Alcorn but if that foundation is there, they can rebound quickly. Tradition brings in more athletic dollars, helps with recruits, give the athletics a reason behind what they are doing and gives you a home and road fan base. Bruh, believe it or not, that is half the battle.
