Alcorn declares independence from Capital City Classic

Why, so you can accomodate JSU fans? You only get 10K for Homecoming. I recommend downsizing.

JSU is gonna take over!

As often as Alcorn is 2-8 going into the classic, they will be happy to see JSU come and take the home stands. This game only only thrived on the efforts of JSU. Hopefully, this will also allow to move the game to 3 or 4 PM when we host.

Man, when folks get out of Union Church...they just get wild...and forgetful...Drove through there the other day...I completely understand. :lol:

I attended the last JSU game played at Alcorn. We had to sit in the stands 2 hours before the game to get a good seat and it took us 3 hours in bumper to bumper traffic to get back to Hwy 61. Unless I'm the only one that remembers how bad it was, there will be a lot of Jacksonians skipping this one.

The Lynch Street Nation don't travel very well. So don't expect Alcorn's stadium attendance record held by the Jaguar Nation to be broken.

We already broke that record. They just didn't record it as such. They just called it a sell-out. The last time JSU played down there, people who got to campus at 11 am for a 1 PM start were just making it on campus by halftime. That's 4 hrs sitting in the car.

Que, it's gonna be bad but I believe it will also be beautiful. In fact, I never go to the CCC. My games this year were gonna be TxSo, SU and Homecoming and (1 or 2 GaTech games) but now I might consider coming to JSU-Alcorn game. This will probably be a one time deal anyway.

In my opinion, it won't be as bad as the last time because Alcorn is probably gonna suck and JSU fans have a better idea of how to prepare. It's not like McNair is playing this time. By the time the game rolls around, the only thing on the minds of JSU fans will be the "Great Takeover"!

I say JSU outnumbers them 2:1 just like we do in Jackson.

clarionledger beat writer rod walker tweet of the year..."I'd almost guarantee Alcorn was the only school in the country that was playing a conference game on its opponents' home field every year" NO DAMN MORE!:happydance:

I think it's time for the SWAC to start rotating the JSU/Alcorn football game to a different month like other SWAC opponents.

This game should no longer be the last game on the schedule each year for both teams since it's no longer a classic.

:happydance::happydance::happydance::happydance::happydance::happydance:

Now JSU can move our game back to THANKSGIVING DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:happydance::happydance::happydance::happydance::happydance::happydance:

WHERE IT SHOULD HAVE ALWAYS STAYED AND FOR THE LONGEST WAS SIMPLY CALLED "THE TURKEY BOWL"!

That was before Highway 552 a/k/a "The Stretch" was four lanes and before Highway 61 was four lanes. That was also waaaaaayyyyyy before they adopted the contra-flow plan they to get people off campus after games. I'm pretty sure they'll have something set up to get people off campus quick after the game ends.

Sounds like some "sour grapes" to me coming from the JSU folks. The Alcorn-JSU/Soul Bowl/Capital City Classic has ALWAYS been the last game on the schedule for both teams. Back when we played Grambling after the JSU game, Alcornites were upset because we wanted to keep the JSU game as the final game. Now, that yall can't have your way and we aren't coming to Jackson anymore, yall wanna move the date of the game up?!?! :lmao: This is SAD on so many levels. :smh:

Where do you get this "yall" from? That was one person's opinion. We'll see how sad it will be when Alcorn tries to handle the JSU crowd in Lorman.
You guys struggled to handle a sellout basketball game when JSU came to town a couple years back. Hopefully this won't be the case with football.

"sour grapes" shole can make for some good tasting wine! The SWAC biggest football game (The Magic City Classic) isn't the last game of the season for both schools.

When?? I've never known a problem to happen.

Don't count on it.

People here are already saying they gonna flood the place and tear it up. They don't care if they have to sit on the grass hill with Alcorns 3-legged stadium dog mascot, they will be going down. :lol:

LOL.. man, I have not even considered a JSU-Alcorn game since I left MS in 2002 but since I think this will be a one-time experience, I am seriously considering going. Jacksonians gonna be all up in that! I think I want a reserved seat on the Alcorn side. Our side is too small JSU fans.

Bruh, ya'll can't even handle Homecoming when your "visitor" side is empty. I had a co-worker drive all the way from Philly for graduation at Alcorn this year.. he still complaining. If ya'll can't handle 10-15K people, how you gonna handle 30-40K. You will probably have 10K on the yard on Friday night.

This will be a turn around trip for me, might stop in Vicksburg to get some grub, drink and play a few rounds of Poker...

What people fail to realize, there may be some inconveniences, but its home to us and we don’t give a d@mn whether somebody else is comfortable or not. If you don’t like it stay at home. As we all know, people love to hear themselves complain, but in the end, they are going to show up and enjoy all that green grass and open land that they don’t have at home.

And this attendance thing, if you take Southern off every bodies schedule then all the numbers will look bad. The only other big draws we all have (including Jackson st) is homecoming and your rival game. If you remove Alcorn and Southern from jackson’s schedule the only game they will come close to 35K is homecoming. Grambling coming to Jackson won’t reach that number most years.

Speak for yourself.
Last year JSU went to SU and still had a top 5 finish in FCS for home attendance at 23,166 AVERAGE per home game. JSU has finished in the top 5 the last 4 years in FCS home attendance and have not dropped out of the top 10 since Comegy took over as Head Coach. :lol:

Southern was way down at #23 with only 13,679 counting the fact that JSU traveled to SU in 2011 and taking in the fact they expanded Mumford. Alcorn was not even on the map. JSU home attendance has went up at least 3,000 every year since Comegy took over from BELLs low in 2006 of only around 8,000 per game:lol:
