AFTERMATH: Sonic Boom vs. Human Jukebox

No one....they didn't have to. It's the same waxing JSU is gonna put on that azz in December.

Also, to me, JSU won vs SU but like everyone else, it's just a matter of taste. To ME, JSU typically wins halftime vs SU by a landslide. The debate is typically about the battle in the stands.

LOL @ TP. I aint seen a field show from either worth mentioning in years in this battle. So landslide? LOL. Can you tell me what JSU or SU did on the field the last 5 years that is memorable?

Both bands were okay on the field. Don't even let me start about how today's bands really don't move nobody on the field anymore........it has become all about the stands. Us old school Boom and Jukes were agreeing like a mofo this weekend. We aint seen nothing on the field from either that says somebody got waxed. I saw mistakes in both bands on drills. People not knowing where they were going. No marching arse mofos. Just skating. JSU played old tunes during their drills. I will give SU props for the new tunes on the field. SU did a JSU gimmick with DMs and JSU did a SU gimmick with the Do What ya Wanna. I guess the new school crowd was entertained but I guess I still rate stuff from the old standards. Both bands did well in the stands. I will say that. But halftime to me still leaves a lot to be desired. But that is just me. Props to both bands for at least keeping it hyped in the stands. That was a good battle.

I have come to accept what we see now a days from our bands. I hope our directors try to do better than they are now and not rest of the laurels and history of past editions of the band. Just would like to see more emphasis on the field shows. NO DAMN GIMMICKS. :lmao:

My 2 cents worth.

Is it just me, or is there more emphasis on the stand performances than the halftime performances. BOTH BANDS had field mistakes that would have been UNHEARD of back in the day. Both shows were solid, but not flawless. It truly seemed as though there was more energy and effort put in the stand performance than the field. I loved the atmosphere of the game and everything about the BOOMBOX Classic, but I would MUCH rather see a flawless field show than a flawless stand show.

SUcks did the EXACT gimmick in the 80's so what are you talking about? At least JSU did a new gimmick. I will agree that the BOOM has not waxed SU at the half like we did in 95, 96, 99 and 2000 (and from what I hear 2003) in a while but SU needs to pay more attention to us during our week because they simply can't out-perform the BOOM on the field in the general sense of what that the typical person is looking for. You band heads may be disappointed but the other 97% of the crowd ain't looking at what you looking at.

TP. We did not do the JSU DM's with T-shirts on in the 80s. The only thing Roy did with Box 4 is say come and march country like J-State. That was in reference to all that dipping on 8 some of there people were doing trying to imitate SU. We didn't run no guys out there with T-shirts on with a J mocking the JSU DMs.

Secondly, the Do What you wanna has been done by JSU before in Baton Rouge in the 90s. I got the tape with it on it. LOL. So the Boom has done it before. So have other bands. Aint nothing new. Hell, FAMU plays it now. LOL.

Thirdly you can't find one old school Boom or Juke member who would agree with your assesment of the 90s. We have left halftime bored than a mofo many times in this battle. And in 99.........SU totally waxed the Boom. So I know you aint going there. It wasn't even close. Football wise or band wise. Nor was 93 or 95. I can't remember 97.......but I do remember SU shutting down the stadium in 93 and getting the lights turned off on them. You know how yall get when yall lose football games. That was the first year Pete came and your fans and band were in shock. LOL. I got that on tape as well.

I know you are a JSU homer and think SU has been waxed on the field all those years. All I can say is oh well. LOL. The last big waxing of the Juke by the Boom was when Taylor-Made and nem were in the band in 1990. After that it has been tic for tac for most 90's years and it depends on what you like personally. 99 was the last big waxing of the Boom by SU in my opinion.

That is what bothers me. Too much stand emphasis. Back in the day, you would use the stands to make up for a crappy show you might have had on the field. Now it seems like halftime is anti-climatic. Then it is on back in the stands. Of course I do feel for the kids now. Halftime has been reduced on the time you are alloted on the field. I think we got 10 minutes a piece back in the day. And in a game like JSU vs SU.......both bands might try to make that 10 minutes 11 or 12. LOL.

JR, your memory is bad.

First all, I don't call mocking a gimmick and putting on a T-shirt ain't that big of a difference...

In 1993, SU did a gospel show in Jackson. In 1995, JSU brought out the guys on stilts, etc...and waxed SU. Went to BR the next year and did the same. Sure, JSU has gone out there way to wax SU but either way, SU got waxed.

As for 1999, I RECALL THAT YOU were fussing at the SU members on here because neutral people who came to the game were saying that SU lost halftime. YOUR comment to them was to take that azz whoopin as an example that you have to go all out to make sure that there is NO doubt. Our show simply had too much energy and SU even got boo'ed during the dance routine. I still have it on tape. In the stands, SU won becasue we had that dude from SU that everyone loves on staff. He had us sounding like a little FAMU and you just can't play every song like that. Unlike everyone else, I am glad he is gone to NSU.

I think some of you old heads are hatas. We all know that nothing is the same and that the shows are shorter but ya'll don't want to give anyone credit these days. Of course you wanna stop at 1999 becasue you know what happened in the dome in 2000 and in Jackson in 2003....:lmao: (Why the hell can't I remember 2002?)

LOL!!!! Are you serious? Stick to the smack and sports boards. This aint your forte. :lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao: JSU wasn't even a factor in '99. Why don't you breakdown the SU/JSU matchup each year from 1990 and give explanations and not your own boy said this and that. Come up with an original argument then check back. JSU come get this fool talking about Paul Adams like he know what he talking about. LOL!!!!! :lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:
