BENGAL E................Remember the BASS?

"When your hot your hot............
When your not you not.......SU.............
Wanna heat up the place..............

You're right. I look forward to getting older. I turn 30 in a few months. :D

This game is historic because of the rain Dr. White, FAMU's current band director was so soaked, he actually went home because he thought that the bands were not going to perform. He heard through the radio broadcast while he was in the tub that the bands were lining up for halftime. Meanwhile The BOOM was under the stands straight blowing everything from the 50's to the 80's & they were singing as well. That was my 1st time seeing The BOOM so up close and personal. I was in the 6th grade. However, as good as The BOOM's show was, FAMU brought the FUNK on the field with Evelyn Champagne King's I'm in Love, Rick James' Give it to me Baby in the drill, I forgot what the concert selection was, but the dance Routine was Freaky Dancin by Cameo, Super Freak, & Numbers. Needless to say it was tight!!! Yes I am trying to locate that portion of FAMU's show in the meantime I am posting a exhibition performance from 1982. Enjoy!!!

now don't be like that........Change is good.....Change is good........those we're the years that got me lookin at JSU, my highschool band director played Trombone there, but it was like in the Early 70's late 60's maybe, but I respected The BOOM. Least yall Sounded Good Dancin.

After hearing people say "The Boom isn't as good as it was in the 1970's and 1980's compared to today", I'm beginning to agree with them after watching clips and tapes of the "BOOM" from the 1970's and 1980's.

That a nice sound by the BOOM...

We did that rotating flower drill in 96....I must say I perfer that version of the Boom...good stuff..

If you really think that was something, find the DRILLS not drill from the 1984-90 Boom. It's all about quality not quantity. I would rather have 120-160 members that knows their music, how to do step two drop offs, pinwheels left and right etc.

Hey I totally agree with ya..I feel you should develope a consistant sound then build on that...Bands just building with no foundation...that's why many of them fall apart...hence 04 JSU band...IMO

Those also were the years that bands danced and played constantly during dance routines and still kept their sound. Putting horns on the ground and dancing to drums and bass lines were few and far between.... ;)

SLT,

I saw this the other day on MEACfans and sent it out. I didn't have your email :redhot: so I omitted you. A lot of the other folks got or should have gotten it.

dac,

Not to be remorse, here but isn't that the weekend Prof passed away? If I remember my history (legend :D) correctly (and I'm sure it's been embellished) it was:

1. Kenny Archer (SLT's CB) fell during the Tiger Run-On, tumbled and came back up on step.

2. It rained most of the game, but the BOOM toughed it out.

3. Got back on the bus, wet and rode 10 hours to NO to play at the Saints game.

4. Where a squad of trumpets turned the wrong way during the drill and was out there floating on their own (Batmite & some others)

and

5. When they returned early Monday, they found out Prof had passed......

Dang!!! I'm a good crab!!! 24 years later!!!!!

Luv the BOOM!!!!

You have quite a memory - we had to get dressed on the bus to get get ready for the Saints' game and we were dog tired!

You are most certainly correct on all aspects. You were a good crab. Shleprock told me so. Besides, I've got 2 years on you. I was a junior that season.

Crit...don't run. Living to be our ages is only a hope for you at this point. :flippy:

No you didn't say Schleprock - I hadn't thought about him in about 20 years...wow!

That is my first time seeing a band besides SU do the Step One drill... They did it pretty good...

all of this and you didn't notice the white corp style boy trying to hate and he has been on you tube hating on black bands left and right some body set this boy straight

straight from Captain Douchbag's mouth on you tube:

Wow! Very good. Nowadays JSU has sex with their instruments and play as loud as possible.

I know this is not what HBCU's are about, dancing and playing loud.
