He damn sure did just throw General Motors and the state of Michigan under the bus. Hopefully he will lose Michigan in the general election, but I will not bet the farm on that.

I "shole" like the fact that he is spatting with Michigan including their Governor. I believe the state can be flipped. It certainly can't hurt though.....LOL

Cuomo is doing a great job.

Trump to Issue Travel Advisory for N.Y. Region, Backing Off Quarantine Threat

WASHINGTON — President Trump said Saturday night that he would not impose a quarantine on New York, New Jersey and Connecticut to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, but would instead issue a “strong” travel advisory for the region to be enacted by the governors of the three states.

Mr. Trump made the announcement on Twitter just hours after telling reporters that he was considering a quarantine of the area in an effort to limit the spread of the virus to Florida and other parts of the country, a move that would have been a drastic exercise of federal power to further restrict travel by millions of Americans.

An Alabama State University staff member has joined the war to fight America’s silent enemy – the coronavirus (COVID-19).

Tonya Scott Williams, who works in ASU’s Social Work Department and is an ASU alumna, sat down in front of her sewing machine and started making face masks for those who needed them the most -- those in an assisted living facility and a health care center.

The Florida native, who now resides in Montgomery, said she initially started making the masks for her family and friends, just before the pandemic blew up. But after she learned about hospitals and clinics having a shortage of supplies, she felt compelled to start sewing and posted online what she was doing. The rest is history.

“A couple of people starting messaging me, one was a local clinic and another one was from an assisted living facility and a few nurses started messaging me as well. So I started sewing as many masks as I could to distribute to these facilities. I also hope to fulfill as many requests from nurses who've contacted me,” she said.

Williams’ masks are made out of new,tightly-woven cotton fabric, elastic and other materials, such as felt for the mask's filter, all of which she had in her sewing closet. People also have donated materials to her, she said. So far, she has made 15 masks, which will go to the assisted living facility, and hope to have another 40 completed soon.

Some U.S. Governors have stepped up during coronavirus, others not so much

4-Year-Old Girl, Lost in the Woods for 48 Hours, Is Found Unharmed
During a recent conference call with America's governors, President Donald Trump was pressed by Washington Gov. Jay Inslee to use his authority to ramp up production of badly needed medical equipment to combat the coronavirus.

.....

Also deserving of top grades, in Tillery's estimation, are Democratic governors Gavin Newsom of California, J.B. Pritzker of Illinois, Gretchen Whitmer of Michigan and Republicans Larry Hogan of Maryland and Mike DeWine of Ohio.

.....

"On the other end of the spectrum are two governors who placed their partisan allegiances and or anti-intellectualism above the safety and welfare of their constituents," Tillary said.
They are DeSantis and Tate Reeves of Mississippi, who is also a conservative Republican and Trump ally, he said.

Tillary faulted Reeves for signing an executive order that effectively went against the advice of the Mississippi Department of Health by declaring most businesses in the state "essential" and thus exempt from restrictions on public gatherings. He also deemed most religious facilities "essential" just days after the state's top doctors told residents to skip church and avoid weddings and funerals to slow the spread of the virus.

"When the caseload in Mississippi explodes, he will bear the responsibility for it due to this ignominious action," Tillary said.

.....

Other Democratic governors like Louisiana's John Bel Edwards have also been working effectively with their legislatures and doing a stellar job of keeping their constituents in the loop, Dominguez said.

.....

Hildebrand also gave a shout out to Roy Cooper, the Democratic governor of his home state, North Carolina."Social distancing has not been a priority," Dominguez said. "They have done a poor job on transparency."

They are Kay Ivey of Alabama, and Greg Abbott in Texas.

While much of the U.S. hunkers down to work and shop online, large swaths of the country are trying to cope without an internet connection, leaving millions of households cut off from vital services and information during the pandemic.

Here’s what the digital divide looks like across the U.S. In counties with the deepest shade of orange, half of households don’t have access to the internet.

Before the coronavirus hit the U.S., only about 7% of American workers had access to a “flexible workplace” benefit, where their employers allowed or encouraged them to work remotely, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Those jobs tend to pay well, which helps explain why access to telework varies sharply by income, according to the Pew Research Center. Only 1% of private-sector workers with average hourly wages of less than $13.25 have access to telework.

A tale of two governors:
One is a moderate to conservative democrat. The other is obviously a right wing republican.

Mistakes are one thing. Moronic ones are another.

I like Gov. Edwards. Just saw him on George Stephanopoulos and the way he answered the questions about Mardi Gras and threw it back on the Federal Government saying "They said it was contained and there was nothing to worry about" was GANGSTA!!!

Ventilator vs. respirator, quarantine vs. isolation: Covid-19 pandemic terms, defined
:read:

https://www.vox.com/science-and-hea...isolation-definitions-covid-19-pandemic-terms

Virus and outbreak terms

SARS-CoV-2 — The formal, scientific name of the virus that’s causing this pandemic. (It’s short for “severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2.”)

Covid-19 — The disease caused by the virus SARS-CoV-2. If you’re sick, you have Covid-19. You were infected by SARS-CoV-2. (If you’re still confused, think about how the HIV virus causes AIDS.)

Coronavirus — This is a family of viruses that SARS-CoV-2 belongs to (technically they are known as betacoronaviruses, but you can just say coronavirus). The 2003 SARS outbreak was a coronavirus, as was MERS in 2012. They are named coronaviruses because of their shape. When viewed through a microscope, the individual virus looks like a sphere surrounded by a spiky crown (or corona).

Endemic — A disease that regularly infects humans, like the flu, strep throat, or any common illness. There are four coronavirus strains that commonly infect humans, usually manifesting as colds. It’s possible that SARS-CoV-2 becomes endemic, too.

Though it's not stated in the article, it shows the challenges that students, particularly from lower economic backgrounds have, relating to access to online school work. This will encumber their ability to continue matriculating and acquire credit in these trying times if a plan isn't put into place.

Those same polls showed Clinton winning the election and we see how that turned out, this guy has really screwed us on this. If Obama had handled H1N1 like this they would have thrown him in prison smh

Same with 911. If that attack had happened when Obama was president, SMH, lord have mercy.... But anyway, that's a whole nother thread.

Liberty University Brings Back Its Students, and Coronavirus, Too

https://www.nytimes.com/2020/03/29/...ity-falwell.html?referringSource=articleShare

The decision by the school’s president, Jerry Falwell Jr., to partly reopen his evangelical university enraged residents of Lynchburg, Va. Then students started getting sick.

LYNCHBURG, Va. — As Liberty University’s spring break was drawing to a close this month, Jerry Falwell Jr., its president, spoke with the physician who runs Liberty’s student health service about the rampaging coronavirus.

“We’ve lost the ability to corral this thing,” Dr. Thomas W. Eppes Jr. said he told Mr. Falwell. But he did not urge him to close the school. “I just am not going to be so presumptuous as to say, ‘This is what you should do and this is what you shouldn’t do,’” Dr. Eppes said in an interview.

So Mr. Falwell — a staunch ally of President Trump and an influential voice in the evangelical world — reopened the university last week, igniting a firestorm, epidemiologically and otherwise. As of Friday, Dr. Eppes said, nearly a dozen Liberty students were sick with symptoms that suggest Covid-19, the disease caused by the virus. Three were referred to local hospital centers for testing. Another eight were told to self-isolate.

Nearly a dozen of students at Liberty University are sick with symptoms associated with the coronavirus, according to a university physician, after the private Christian university in Lynchburg Virginia welcomed back students.

President Jerry Falwell Jr. welcomed back students despite the growing concern of the coronavirus.

The New York Times reported Sunday that Falwell spoke to Dr. Thomas W. Eppes Jr., a university physician, who did not urge him to close the school.

Now nearly a half dozen students are reported sick with Covid-19 symptoms, and three were sent to a local hospital for testing, per the Times.

“Liberty will be notifying the community as deemed appropriate and required by law,” Falwell told the Times, adding that students returning to campus are required to self-quarantine for 14 days.

He did not fail to heed...he put profit over the health and well being of this country. What he does not realize is the working class is what drives the economy.

How to disinfect groceries from coronavirus? Don’t leave them outside, N.J. experts warn.

Wondering how to disinfect your groceries from coronavirus? Leaving your groceries in your garage for three days in an effort to kill off the coronavirus is a very, very bad idea, experts at two New Jersey universities said.

The advice to leave your groceries outside as a way to disinfect them comes from a viral video shared by a family doctor in Michigan. The video also advocates for disinfecting every single box, repackaging all dried foods, and washing all fresh foods with soap. Is all of this really necessary?

You can't believe anything lying Trump says. 1st the lier states Easter is a return to normalcy date now by the end of April knowing damn well he has access to the intelligence of what is going on. These people in congress aren't passing out money, waiving all kinds of things that have a dollar value for the fun of it. This is not a fly by night situation based on what Congress is doing (actions) and not what dumb Trump is saying (rhetoric). I recommend you govern yourself accordingly.

NY Dad Locks Out Son After He Returns From Spring Break

Peter Levine of Nanuet, New York, warned his college-age son Matt he should not go to South Padre Island, Texas, for spring break in the middle of the coronavirus outbreak. The 21-year-old ignored the advice and went to party central—then drove with his buddies to dad’s home, hoping to crash.
