Hey Hornets,

I heard that your school is looking at former NCCU and PV HC Coach Frazier and current NCCU HC Coach Mack, in addition to the Grambling DC Coach Todd and Bowie State’s HC Coach Wilson.

All four are great candidates and aren’t necessarily “re-treads.”

Which coach do you all like the most, and why?

I'd think they want someone with ties to the state. Al Pogue was linked early. ASU grad, recruiting coordinator at Troy. I'd definitely look outside of HBCU football. Damion Craig, & Tee Martin are guys with ties in state that likely won't be given the opportunities that they are searching for. I thought they'd be ready to announce about now. What have they been doing for the last 6 weeks. Did someone tell them there is an early signing period now?

Why must we look outside hbcu football when pwc refuses to do so and have no intentions?

What do they know we don’t? Fobbs, Broadway,Mack proves you gotta have hbcu experience to win.

Just like kool said. And besides you're not hiring a pwc, you're hiring a coach. Now I didn't say they need to hire a white guy, which would be fine as long as they win and graduate players. Being a swac, meac, siac guy is not a requirement. Martin and Craig have the cache in the state to help them get players that otherwise wouldn't think about them.

Exactly

Honestly, HBCU football programs wont live up to their potential limiting coach selections within HBCUs.

Fobbs played at an HBCU, his dad took his lumps at one so he knew what he was signing up for.

Martin and Craig has “cache” with the names on their shirts as I’ve seen that play out before. There are hbcu grads coaching in big time basketball getting the same recruits but that hasn’t worked when they come down so you gotta develop more than recruit.

Tee Martin is rumored for the UT job, and is the current OC for Southern California. He isn't taking a major payout to be an Head Coach on the FCS level, HBCU or PWI.
You maybe right. There is a significant chance that they won't hire Tee b/c they want to win now and a first time head coach isn't who they think they are. Also he's black, and they may not want to do that.
If Tee realizes that his opportunities are limited by experience and skin color he might come around (by the way this is why one of our schools desperately needs to move up. You could get the best young black coaches and let them make a name for themselves and their schools by beating the schools that won't hire them.) and take the job. That also would require bama state to understand that they are the jump off for someone like Tee, to win and move on to a better opportunity

Playing and coaching at an HBCU are two totally different things.

And Tee Martin won't get the UT job as long as Peyton is actively involved in their coaching searches.

Look at Dameyune Craig. He couldn't even get an OC job at his alma mater. But he wont even get a call an HBCU because he's not in any cliques, or because he's gonna "bring the white mans ice with him"

Its ridiculous

If they wanted Craig he would’ve been considered so there’s a reason. Why do we have to rescue them when we have a suitable pool?

The formula is there to win consistently.

Rescue? Do you not understand why PWIs aren't hiring black coaches?

Was Fobbs "rescued" too?

What HBCU coach is suitable and not under contract?

It’s Eley or Pogue! Look for an announcement this week.
Can we get Pogue with Eley returning to his Associate head coach position? Eley has value as a guy that's been the head coach. There is tremendous value in having that guy around for your first time head coach.

You want ones the pwcs see no value in outside of ties to their state

Do what the big boys do if you want to be one..get one under contract somewhere that’s successful.

I hate that we always go out to search by devaluing our own if there’s qualified folks. Half the times a lot of the reasons coaches fail is due to a broke system.

Breh, I hate to say it, but some of those cacs put more work in when it comes to coaching. They care about details of the game and teaching these kids something more than what our coaches do.

Our coaches are not in the film room, I can't speak for all but I know (SU) coaches aint in it.

I wish you would stop talking what you don't know.... Our coaches spend as much if not more time if the film room as so called "cacs" .... I know that for a fact. Our coaches have to develop talent unlike a lot PWI coaches. Most pwi aren't innovative at all!!! They run simple shit. If most our coaches had they're talent they would shut that bullshit down.... As I've said before it easy to coach 3,4,5 star players. Keep it simple and let them make plays!!

Man Dameyune Craig is bum... Check his track record. Their is a reason the job he's been able to get in the last 2 years is a restricted earnings job at Florida st...
