The Arizona Wildcats paid $575,000 to Grambling State for Saturday's night game. That deal included having the world famous Grambling State band perform at halftime.

Staying with the Pac 12, Colorado gave Idaho State 500,000 for their win.

One small school paid a bigger one to fill their schedule. Florida International paid Maryland, from the Big Ten, $500,000 to come in to their place and beat them 41-14

Oklahoma State paid Central Michigan $250,000 to play, only for the Chippewas to come in and beat the Cowboys on their home turf on a last second Hail Mary.

This money goes a long way in supporting athletics at these smaller schools.

Damn Oklahoma State is stiffing teams who come to play them. I thought the $350K Southeast Louisiana is getting was low. Central Michigan is an FBS school.

Glad they lost!!!

Oklahoma State played at CMU last year and got paid the same amount.

In 2018, when CMU goes back to Stillwater, they'll get $550,000.

Oh ok. I just thought it was a on and done. Home-home-home is a good deal if their fans showed up.

I'm still trying to see how much Middle Tennessee state paid us. Folks keeping that info on lock around Huntsville.

UNLV football will open the 2016 season at home against Jackson State University, it was announced today. Equally important for entertainment purposes, Jackson State is bringing its marching band, too.

The game, which will be played on Thursday, Sept. 1, at Sam Boyd Stadium, is a special partnership between UNLV and the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority. Jackson State will receive $600,000 for making the trip, according to the Clarion-Ledger. However, that does not include travel costs for its famed marching band, the Sonic Boom of the South, or the cheerleaders and dance team, the Prancing J-Settes.

WOW in bold and red

Best deal ever in creation.

Yeh, sure was a "best deal ever." Any other entity make a 50-minute car drive to get a 450,000$ check and clear over 400,000$ w/out leaving their home state while moving its football team and its band? :D

Our deals next year vs FCSers at our place are even better. It's a GREAT time to be a panther and it's even better to have a budgeted full-time athletic director! :D

I have told people....the best games are the ones in driving distance where only the football has a overnight stay which is usually Friday night. After the game come home.

It's about time Prairie View leveraged its proximity to:

texas a&m
ut-austin
rice
uofh
UIW
SHSU
SFA
Lamar
HBU
ut-sa
unt-denton
smu
McNeese St

LangstonU, UCA, Nicholls, ull, ulm, et al should be w/in our limited view, imho.

See that's the thing PV and Texas Southern are in a perfect place. There is absolutely no reason for you all to be playing North Dakota...etc...

I do believe we need to play a current FCSer in NDSU to let us know how far we have to go to be competitive across the entire FCS landscape.

But in all fairness, PV shouldn't have to leave the borders to find a division-I football game that is financially lucrative to both parties, imho.

Yeah because it surely didn't take no where near even 50K to move the football team, band and etc. Hell they were in their own beds that night. Good move PV. I imagine you cleared at least 430K. I assume 20K is still a lot to only go 50 minutes. But lets say it did. That's a lot of cheddar left.

I thought the food expenses for band/football team/"cheerleaders" smh + chartered buses would've equated to ~20K-30K.

hotel for 1 night....food for 2 nights....3 buses for 2 days, staff lodging, etc.
band/student expenses - 6 buses, 1 postgame meal, tickets to game for students

those are the normal expenses...depends on the bus company but it'll be around 20K to move

For the 40 minute ride to Auburn, "Alabama State will be receiving a $515,000 payout for playing in the game, which is nearly what it reportedly spent on football scholarships ($565,820) in its 2013-14 operating budget. ASU will also have the opportunity to have its marching band, The Mighty Marching Hornets, perform at Jordan-Hare Stadium for the first time. Auburn will provide 500 complimentary tickets for ASU along with holding 400 band complimentary tickets"

The internet ADs can knock these games if they wanna, but in the real world, $$$$ talks.

But why do "cheerleaders" have their own chartered bus? :( smh PV could save a LOT of money by not having "cheerleaders" ala sideline dancers. smh
