Dude, your greatest team in a decade had to go to OT with one of our worst in the decade. You all have no idea the type of trouble you are in. Seriously.

Seriously TP...just stop.

I've come to the conclusion that either they are doing some super trolling or they honestly don't know what the hell they are talking about when it comes to football.

Those threads going into the Alcorn game are still there.

Really.. you Valley dudes are the trolls simply out of hate... Also, if you want to talk about threads that are STILL there....what about the YEARS of threads from SU posters when they ended up with losing records? REALLY?.. But WE are trolls and don't know what we are talking about? Valley and SU don't want to compare their last 4-5 years against JSU football.

I said just what I wanted to say earlier. Last year's JSU team was not that good. In the private forum, we were just happy the rest of ya'll were so bad. Even at #1 in the EAST, we knew we needed a change AT LEAST at OC if nothing else. The good thing about JSU is that we could evaluate ourselves while at the top. Most of ya'll can't do that because you can't get to the top.. now troll that.

Do you think last year's JSU team was better than the team with Rico and LeBeau that played UAPB in the SCG? Was last year's team better than Casey's team or Jimmy Oliver's teams? The only team that team was better than was Trae Rutland's 2009 team..and ya'll struggled with it.

.

Combination of both for the most part. And TP doesn't know about football.

But that's none of my business.

A better question is, who in the Blue Bengal Den is typing this for you?

Facts? I guess you need a quick reminder. Look at my sig and refresh your memory.

The fact is.. you think you are good becasue you beat one of the WORST teams Comegy put on the field during his time at JSU. But the new FACT is.. u gonna find out...

So ... if Alcorn's going to take that next step...

1. How are they going to replace Walker, co-offensive POTY and conference's leading rusher?
2. Can Gibbs flourish as the focal point of the offense? Can they keep him upright like they did last season?
3. Can they continue to win the turnover battle like last season? Alcorn was plus-9 in turnover margin (10 fumbles recovered, 17 INTs for 27 takeaways vs. 11 fumbles lost and 7 INTs for 18 giveways). When your turnover margin is that great, you can only expect the ball not to bounce Alcorn's way like last season.
4. Can they generate pressure up front? It amazed me with the number of INTs they had last season, but only 14 sacks for that defense that finished 2nd in total defense? Teams now have an extra year of tape to break down Alcorn's defense, and it will be interesting to see if Alcorn defensively will get more aggressive.

Good points, especially the plus turnover margin. It's highly unlikely that they'll repeat such a huge margin on the plus side. If they only managed to come in third after such a huge margin, it will be extra tough for them to come in first place without a similar feat this coming season.

The crazy thing about all of those INTs they had was that the leader in that category had three INTs...You would think in this conference and playing Southern and PV and J-State and UAPB that they would've amassed those INTs with someone having more than three. Valley had a simliar number of INTs, but Boykin was ballin his arse off. Usually with high INT numbers, you'll see one guy or two ball hawks on the team. Numbers show Alcorn doesn't have ball hawks returning, especially with a defense that had 14 sacks on the season. So with the second-fewest sacks last season, how did they also have the most INTs? smoke and mirrors? That flies against conventional football wisdom of pressure leads to INTs and good coverage leads to sacks.

Also, Gibbs is also the team's leading rusher among returning players. The next highest rushers had 62 and 47 carries last season, respectively. So if it wasn't Walker or Gibbs scrambling or on designed QB runs, I don't really see much. At least Alabama State had the other dude with Crowell.

I'm just going off the stats and what that tells me...Also how in the hell you have a WR with 9 TDs and only 350 receiving yards?

I do want more teams being competitive in the conference...it makes the SWAC stronger. As much as some folks talk about Southern doesn't have Dray anymore, can the same be asked for the team with the other conference POTY and conference's leading rusher?

oh BTW: Season stats are http://stats.ncaa.org/team/stats/11520?org_id=17&year_stat_category_id=10393

I know they got like 5 turnovers vs PV but did MOST of the others come vs Grambling, Wagner, and Eddie?

To me.. Alcorn is def going to be a decent squad. Had they played JSUs or SUs schedule with Tulane, Houston, NWState, TNState, they would have been a 7-4 team so I am not buying the whole 9-2 thing. BUT I do think they have what it takes to repeat as a "7-4" type team. I think that 9-2 and the win over JSU has a lot of people fooled. For them to repeat, they simply have to execute and I think they can do that. I don't even think Walker will be hard to replace. Just like last year, the JSU game may or may not make a difference. They will have to get past AlaState, PV and maybe even AAMU before they even wanna start thinking about J-State.
