When the pack is being lead by weakness you see weak followers. Just look at the folks supporting this foolishness. Weakness.

I by no means condone the actions of what those players did, and I understand J-State's position to want to take legal action. HOWEVER, based on the particulars of that article, it appears that JSU (as of now) can't even get the support of the Mississippi state AG. It appears you guys can't do much of anything without the blessing of the state.

IJS.

Someone advised those Grambling players to boycott instead of educating them about the consequences of a boycott.

There were former Grambling coaches and players advising the young men to play. The players were going to play until Doug Williams stepped in and said boycott the game.

I know for a fact one former player and coach has said if ever sees Doug he is going to spit in his face. The reason is, this situation could have been handled in a way where the team would have gotten more support by playing given all the problems. Then President Pogue got Jindal involved and now Dr. Pogue is nothing but a Jindal figure head now. The sad part is I can see it by the persons being hired at GSU.

Lawyers definitely know how to get paid without doing much. I wonder will the courts consider the SWAC's decision in making Grambling give up its home games to jSU for the next 3 years as part of their compensation package. It seems like both schools would be wise to hire a firm that can determine the economic impact of the homecoming game that was boycotted and the economic impact of the 3 games that Grambling would be made to play in a row for the next 3 years in Jackson. Except for the attorney's fees, monetarily this could be a wash.

50,000 to replace half a mill lol yea ok. My issue then and now is that the players sure as hell ended that boycott 24 hours after the game. That irks me for some odd reason...none of this is our fault! We took gram prez word that there would still be a game and 24 hours before the game they forfeit smh. It is really unfortunate. As for our AG, I can see where he is coming from. If duer would have handled this better we would not be suing the swac! Now we are about to get in a pissing match with jindal and the state of louisiana. Man this is bad.

Keep in mind that Gram doesn't come to Jackson in 2017, when they are supposed to before this went down.

Robber, let me ask you: If the SWAC kept that 2017 game on the schedule to be played in Jackson, is this a done deal?

From the article:

In an emailed statement, the attorney general’s office said “... JSU has not asked our office to file a suit. Since JSU had no contract with Grambling, we would have to review JSU’s contract with the SWAC to determine whether the remedies for a forfeited game are exclusive or if it allows in-conference schools to sue one another for additional damages in excess of the compensation granted by the board members.”

In an interview with The Clarion-Ledger on Tuesday, Hood said making a public statement in this type situation is “not something we normally do, especially when it involves somebody in another state. They can sue you for declaratory judgment.

So what is it that you want J-State? Because it is clear that the AG wants nothing to do with this.

JSU should have wrote a letter to Duer and the SWAC office requesting that 2017 game with Grambling should be played in Jackson, since it is in line with the normal schedule before the boycott. It seems like the name Duer SHARP is an oxymoron.

No, the concern is the financial loss from missing the 2013 homecoming. The 50K and games were more of a punishment for Gram - doesn't really help recoup our losses.

I can see if JSU was just dominating the SWAC, always talking about leaving but can't even dominate a weak conference. Yall heads are so above the clouds and for what reason?:)

man please.
This is just a garbage conference with a lot of dumbazzes running it. The fact ya'll blaming JSU for trying to recover losses from cowards is typical of the backwards "not our fault for our own dumbness" mentality people have in HBCU land. I would not care if JSU left, dropped down, and joined the Gulf South Conference right now. Just as long as we get the hell out of the SWAC. You want to stay stuck on stupid in this conference forever, your choice.

If this case goes to court and I was Grambling's attorney, I'll recommend that the next 4 games be played in Jackson from 2014 to 2017, which should recoup and satisfy any monetary losses to JSU due to the game that was boycotted by GSU's players in 2013.
