And it's still lower in Cobb than it is anywhere inside of 285, by far excluding places like Buckhead.
 
I should not be surprised. It is Cobb County after all.

Questions about the consequences of a Braves move to Cobb County began circulating among the tea party set last night. Here’s a Facebook posting from Steve Brown, the Fayette County Commission chairman:

“The I-75, I-285 and US 41 location for the new Braves stadium is one of the most congested sites in metropolitan Atlanta. The next stage will be asking for rail transit, count on it. And who will be asked to pay for it?”

Cobb County GOP Chairman Joe Dendy sent out a statement that included these thoughts on mass transit and taxes:

“It is absolutely necessary the solution is all about moving cars in and around Cobb and surrounding counties from our north and east where most Braves fans travel from, and not moving people into Cobb by rail from Atlanta.

“The other important part of the formula is for the citizens of Cobb not to experience any kind of tax increase. The influx of people into the county for the games should provide the revenue needed to make this a successful venture.”

Georgia used to have one of the more moderate republican statewide parties in the nation-even during the Reagan years. Remember. Reagan left the White House in 1989.

I am glad that he is being honest.

Cobb GOP chairman concerned about (those) people coming to Braves' games

I just got back from Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed's press conference on the Braves' move to a transportation-challenged site in Cobb County, and will have a lot more to say on that later. But I can't let this pass without notice:

Joe Dendy, chairman of the Cobb County Republican Party, says that he has two conditions for supporting the Braves' proposed move (h/t Jim Galloway):

Again, that's from the chairman of the Republican Party in the state's wealthiest, most sophisticated GOP stronghold. If you want to know why the Atlanta region has trouble acting and thinking like a region, why we have abandoned mass transit options that every other major urban area in the country is pursuing, and why we have forfeited the economic dynamism that once made this city/region the envy of much of the nation, there you have it.

Not to mention what it says about the "inclusive" attitude of a certain number of Georgia Republicans.

Ya'll act like break-ins are the number one type of crime... REALLY! These people are NOT trying to steal no dayum 40 inch TV. They want cars and wallets. :smh:

Cobb County has had big problems with traffic since before 1980. They have done little to nothing. Their crime arguments are weak. (Look at my posts about Cobb County.) I cannot feel sorry for the leadership there that refuses to do much about the traffic. Let them suffer.

Yes, it has been bad for a while but actually it never got bad until you went ABOVE that interchange. When I was at Tech, I never had a hard time getting to Tech or getting home. I don't think the crime argument is weak. Most people know what crime increases when you add public rails.

Dayum! Another Atlantic Station. So, from what yall are saying, high rises and shops will take the place of Turner Field and the new stadium will be built right across 285 north of the Galleria. At least that's what it is suggesting. They have to tear down other businesses to build the new stadium. Yep! the traffic is going to be worst, especially during Friday games around rush hour. The've already built a large apartment complex behind the Galleria/Cumberland/Cobb Energy area.

Yep.. My frat brother, Mayor Reed, who I made by the way.. :D says the developement is going to the largest for the middle class that the city has ever seen.
 
I will have to give my cousin a call when I come home next week to see AAMU beat GT. I haven't hollered at him since e got re-elected to say congrats.

Reed was on the radio this morning saying that he is not pushing for it to be another Atlantic Station. The example he used was Glenwood. (don't know if you're familiar with it). It's a nice work live play redevelopment, but it's not remotely on the level of Atlantic Station.

The vision I get from your statement is the projects with a nightclub and a bbq joint in the neighborhood.

It's been awhile since I've been out I-20 E. in that direction, but from the map I'm assuming you pass S. DeKalb Mall or is it right around in that area?

Cobb Commissioners approve partial funding for future Braves stadium

The Cobb County Commission is approved by a 4 to 1 vote plans for a new $672 million Braves stadium in its backyard.

The crucial vote — which directs $300 million in taxpayer dollars to the development — comes just two weeks and a day after the Braves made a stunning announcement the team was moving from downtown Atlanta to the suburbs.

The baseball club and the five-member Cobb commission have since remained focused on today’s vote, with the Braves ignoring a call to reconsider from the Atlanta City Council and the commission rejecting pleas to delay the decision from critics of the hasty process.
