That is not true!!!!!! Winning is an important factor, but other things factor in. Some schools just have bigger followings that others and some games are more marketable than others. For example, ASU and AAMU can be 0-(however many they played combined) and they will get at least 40K in that raggady staduim in Birmingham. We'll see if Sam Houston falls off after this season when the starting QB and RBs are lost to graduation.
not impressed. should of been a decent crowd with the packages to get folks into the stadium. DO BETTER!
It was TxSou's homecoming? The 2,186 is wrong for the ASU-TSU game. Since it was TSU's Homecoming,
Need us for what? Clearly there's no correlation between attendance and good football when it comes to FCS.
There are three SWAC schools that are in the top 20, but not one Southland Conference school. Somehow, SWAC schools should use attendance as means of marketing and recruiting athletes. If it was the other way around, .
You think these kids care that we have 3 schools in the top 20 of FCS in attendance? One conference averages about 15K fans and the other averages around 12K - how can you use that "advantage" in recruiting? Its all smalltime to them.
To help with recruiting. Northwestern brought in a lot of recruits for that game, as that's the only game they will have a great crowd. Recruits aren't impressed with empty stadiums. Last season SU had the highest rated FCS class in Louisiana. If you have a advantage, why even give your competition a chance to cut into it.
I'm sure recruits were more impressed with Northwestern beating you guys 55-17 more than anything. That's far more detrimental to Southern than an empty stadium when it comes to recruiting. I just fail to see how the original assertion that the Southland needs the SWAC applies here when it comes to attendance. There aren't very many SWAC vs Southland matchups to begin with so it seems some of their teams have done just fine averaging less fans than SWAC schools.
Ark-Pine Bluff at Jackson State
Attendance: 9087
Brown think he's slick. Somebody is paying Myrlie's and Dr. GREENFIELD'S (Diversity my ass) Plane tickets and traveling fees to go to all those damn events.

I think Alcorn's and our attendance was affected by the threat of the tropical storm. There weren't a whole lot of high schoolers at the game. I know folk who stayed home because they didn't wanna get caught in a storm, even though the skies were beautiful for most of the day. We did wind up getting wet for a few minutes twice.
Wow. Did you take pics? The 2,186 is wrong for the ASU-TSU game. Since it was TSU's Homecoming, one would have thought it would have been more fans there. The stadium alone, because of its look and attractiveness should have done the job. It's was sad sitting in the stadium and witnessing this for myself. My estimation would be more around 500 and that's pushing it.

I see now, some of our schools rather threw in the towel and say screw it when it comes to using whatever angle to recruit better talent, but I understand their mentality, especially when their stadium only seats 9k. But like P used to always say, it's a damn shame to have the worst facilities in Division I football.
Well let me rephrase the statement, Louisiana Southland schools all want to play SU, so we can help them with their gate and recruiting. The bad part of that game was SU has more talent than Northwestern. SU coaches fell our players and fans in that game, with that BS game plan. That whole game was discussed on Jaguar Journal Saturday, and everyone seemed to agree it was the coaches fault.
So are you say the recruits SU brought in for the SU/JSU game wasn't impressed by the crowd and atmosphere compared to going to a Southeastern or Nicholls game with 2,000. You can't tell me it doesn't make a difference. That's why in the past, in the 90's, SU and Gram were able to out recruit ULL, ULM, and Tulane for some kids.
Ok whatever. So explain how this perceived recruiting advantage when it comes to attendance translates into tangible, on-field results for SU.
