Interesting side note: Vanderbilt's Tony Kemp is a strong candidate for SEC player of the year. While watching the championship, I noticed Vandy had 3 (possibly 4) AA starting for them.

Friday

Game 1: Jackson State (34-20) at LSU (52-9), 2 p.m.

Game 2: Sam Houston State (37-20) vs. Louisiana-Lafayette (41-18), 7 p.m.



Saturday

Game 3: Game 1 loser vs. Game 2 loser, 2 p.m.

Game 4: Game 1 winner vs. Game 2 winner, 7 p.m.

Sunday

Game 5: Game 3 winner vs. Game 4 loser, 2 p.m.

Game 6: Game 4 winner vs. Game 5 winner, 7 p.m.

Monday

Game 7: Game 4 winner vs. Game 5 winner, 7 p.m., if necessary

Anybody can be beat. In the Regionals SU beat #1 Cal State Fullerton in 1987. SU beat ULM in 02. SU beat #15 Southern Miss in 03. TSU beat #1 Rice in 2004. Oh SU also beat a team from the Midwest in 1996.

Me and a fellow umpire talked about this Saturday...there needs to be a change within SWAC baseball and by that I dont mean the recruitment of more hispanic and non black players..But baseball is really in the same boat as basketball. Maybe one day..

Yes, that is something that goes way back. They wanted to change their name years ago to the University of Louisiana from the University of Southwestern Louisiana. They felt like LSU state legislators were their resistance and held them back from the name change and stigma of a regional university. Eventually a compromise was made and an agreement that they and any other college in the system could be University of Louisiana AT; hence NE Louisiana (University of LA Monroe) took advantage of this also. It was not what ULL wanted though. So yes, there is a long standing dislike there. :lol: :emlaugh:

SU was tied with the #1 team in the country with under 2 minutes to play, in basketball. What are you talking about. The conference had a decent OC seasons with two victories over SEC foe. SU beat Texas a&m and AAMU beat Miss state.
