Metro Atlanta population hit 5.45 million in 2012

Man, I wish I could have been there to help General Sherman...

LSU's ex-superintendent General Sherman was trying to move a mass Army to the sea. He did not see Forsyth County of any strategic value at the time to destroy. Destroying Atlanta and any routes to Charleston, SC were his main objective. But he did scare the crap out of a lot of White people when he did it, which is what the Union should have done in the beginning of the Civil War. General Sherman tactics was the exact same tactic John McCain campaigned on with the surge in Iraq.

Lake Lanier is a common destination for black people for recreation. Atlanta is an area where you probably have the most educated AA in America. People move where they can supply a demand. It has nothing to do with being "scared" of white people. America is predominately white. Hence, one cannot circumvent them. No one is going to move in the boonies to satisfy your vision.

I'm sure Black folks only visit the Gwinnett County and Hall County side of the lake and Hall County is not that much different then Forsyth County. Forsyth County is basically the other half of the lake.

It's good to know that there are places where educated Black folks can twerk their azzes on one side of a lake and racist White folks can have their Ku Klux Klan rallies on the other side of the lake. I'm sure when them White folks in Hall County are done taking their money and watching them twerk their azzes, they tell them to leave and continue their twerking in Fulton and Cobb Counties. I bet there are all kind of signs up on the Forsyth County side that reads, "TWERKING IS PROHIBITED ON THIS SIDE OF THE LAKE".:emlaugh:

I guess majority of the people from Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama come from the boonies, since each one of those states probably have three to five counties and parishes that are over 187,928 people, which is the population of Forsyth County. The only parishes in Louisiana with that many people or more are Orleans, Jefferson, East Baton Rouge, Lafayette, St. Tammany, Calcasieu, and Caddo.

It's a pity that some folks are too damn scared to travel to the place that provides them one of the most important natural resources that support their life every day. I guess Black kids in the Atlanta Metro area would never get to visit the source of their water, which is a common field trip in a lot of places. I agree with the racist White man in the Oprah video when he said, "there's a big difference between a N-word person and Black person", but the way I see it, a N-word person is too damn scared to stand up to a few racist White people. High cost of living and no mass transportation system are just excuses, because when I lived in Los Angeles, Black folks lived and commuted from the Palmdale/Lancaster area with no direct access to the mass transportation system, which the Palmdale/Lancaster area is twice as far from the City of Los Angeles then Forsyth County is to the City of Atlanta and I'm pretty sure there are other large metro areas in this country where Black folks live in high price communities with no mass transportation system to the inner city. In most cases, people with money look for high price communities to live in with no access to the mass transportation system, so they don't have to deal with strangers from the inner city coming near their home. An honest person would have said, "I'm just too damn scared of racist Whites people to live outside of a Black community".

And by the way, unlike most Black folks in Atlanta, Rosa Parks wasn't afraid to stand up against a racist White bus driver.

Dude, what are you even talking about? Not trying to be funny but....

Dude, not trying to be funny, but you came in here talking about Black folks don't move to areas that are very expensive with no mass transportation system. Do you remember or you forgot? But later in your post, you did state that that the approximately 1.8 million Black people living in the Atlanta Metro area were scared of those White folks in Forsyth County, which supports my theory why Black people in the Atlanta Metro area really don't move there.

Who is going to pay for that move? Forsyth County is also VERY expensive to live in. The rest of your argument is just wtf, what is even the logic for your posts? lol...why should black folks pack up and move to a suburb 45 minutes north of the city when you have a large contingency of people that are black here that rely on public transportation, which Forsyth doesn't have? You want to see the average cost of homes in South Forsyth?

http://www.homes.com/Real_Estate/GA/County/FORSYTH/

That answers your question as to why the black population is so low there. Just like it is in Peachtree City, just like it is in the majority of the other wealthy areas in the city that don't have apartments or transportation. And did you really bring Rosa Parks into it? :emlaugh::emlaugh::emlaugh::emlaugh::emlaugh::emlaugh: Yea, being afraid of them is the reason why. I guess it wasn't the reason why more blacks moved into Cobb and South Gwinnett when in fact they used to be the exact same way but less expensive and offer public transportation ey?

Just a random question here but, do you understand what sarcasm means? If so, you should really go back and read what I said again.

I guess if black folks choose to live anywhere other than Forsyth County that means they're scared of white folks. :retard::retard:

Raleigh, NC was recently named the fastest growing city in the past 12 years. What I like about North Carolina, instead of one area growing, it seems like there are several areas in North Carolina that are growing, which is probably why North Carolina went blue in President Obama's first election and came close as a swing state in his second election. Instead of diluting their votes in one large metro area, Democrats are gaining political power throughout the entire State of North Carolina. Out of 13 house seats in North Carolina, the Democrats control 7 of those seats, whereas out of 14 house seats in Georgia, the Democrats control only 5 of those seats. I guess North Carolina Republicans have a lot of work to do in gerrymandering the state back in their favor. :emlaugh:

Well said.

Cee, you cannot compare GA to NC because outside of Atlanta and MAYBE Augusta, the rest of the state is rual. NC has Elizabeth City, Wilmington, Ashville, Fayetteville, Raleigh, Durham, Greensboro, Winston-Salem, and Charlotte.

Unknown, I never stated that Charlotte and Atlanta were the same size. I stated that our leadership has been making the steps to avoid Atlanta's problems. Our infrustrucure is good yet will be great as the city continues to grow. Do not think that Charlotte ia all banking. I live near Technology Drive which is filled with non-banking facilities. Raleigh-Durham is home to Research Triangle Park while Fayetteville is home to Ft. Bragg (FORSCOM, special forces and 82nd Airborne Headquarters) so the economy is string throughout the state.

With a strong UNC System and economic climate, one cannot compare the state of NC to the state GA. Yeah, a Republican snuck in last year but he is definitely on his way out. We have been a Democratic state for quite some time, which is partly why our HBCUs have been in such good shape for so long.

I'm not sure how you came up with that conclusion but it is myopic at best. I will agree that NC has more white democrats than Georgia. Romney won NC 50-48 last time around and Georgia 53-46. http://www.usatoday.com/interactives/news/politics/electoral-vote-tracker/ However alleging that NC is better (or not comparable) than GA is purely your subjective opinion.

Nashville is better than Charlotte and Atlanta. :lmao: Just messing with you guys. You like where you live, no use in saying which city is best. You live there so be happy. Just my opinion. I live in the DC metro and I think it's the best area in the U.S., but that's just my opinion. Atlanta, Charlotte, Nashville, the DC metro all provide great opportunities for AA. I like all of those cities.

What's really retarded is to make others believe Atlanta is some type of Mecca for Black people in this country and like I said before, the only place that came close to that was Tulsa, Oklahoma the Black Wall Street, where a dollar could possibly circulate in the community 36 to 100 times to sometimes a year before it left the community, which means Blacks in Tulsa, Ok controlled enough of their economic wealth and natural resources that they weren't so depended on others for their survival. Also, one of the only two airports in the state of Oklahoma back then was owned by Blacks in Tulsa, OK. Just admitted it, Atlanta might be drawing a lot of Black folks there for now, but it is no different than any other city in America when it comes to Black people actually controlling the economic wealth in Atlanta. The strong job market that was setup by large corporations owned by others is one of the main reasons why Black folks are moving to Atlanta in vast numbers. But the basic of my argument has been, why do Black people in Atlanta pack themselves primarily in two counties (Fulton and DeKalb), where they could possibly move to other counties in the Atlanta Metro area, such as Gwinnett County and possibly gain another congressional seat in Georgia that would be decided mainly by Blacks? But like you said, Black people in Atlanta have the right to choose to live anywhere in the Atlanta Metro area except for Forsyth County. :emlaugh:

Simple way to solve this problem. You move to Forsyth County and start it off. Ain't no better way than to lead is to do it first.

Atlanta simply needs more freeways if it ever wants to solve the traffic problem. In the east, Stone Mountain Highway should continue west into the city as a 10 lane freeway. Also driving on the downtown connector approaching downtown through one tube instead of splitting the interstates up again to form a spur around downtown. Traveling south on 75/85 I could reach downtown or 20 west quicker. Notice how Dallas and Houston have loops that circle around downtown connecting all points. With a population of 5million you have to build more freeways. Same interstate structure for a while now and the population is steady growing. I think expanding the rail system to more areas wouldn't hurt either but hey thats something the area really has to want.

I'm already living in a county that is mostly White. I've actually done some land development work as an engineer in Forsyth County and visited there several times and from what I can tell, White people there don't look so scary. Also, I never heard the N-word come out of anyone's mouth when I was there, but I have heard the N-word several times in Fulton and DeKalb Counties. :emlaugh:

Yes, I agree. You will never find me saying a place is "better." I will dispute someone's contention though. :emlaugh:
