Odums only worked 2 games under Stump. He barely got indoctrinated. lol... and he STILL beat GRAMBLING

Personally I'm thankful for what Stump did for us...and I also think we would have been better off letting him finish out the year....Of course around here I am in the minority, but honestly we overlooked Valley and that is what caused that Thursday night game to go as it did. Folks around here wanted to fire Stump from the moment he got here and when the Valley situation happened they jumped on it. Was too quick of a reaction if you ask me. IMO we would have had a much better season if we had just let it run its course. Plus in hind sight Valley was much better than anyone other than Valley fans thought they were. Anyway we have who we have and if he hires correctly we will be fine....

Question...have you heard Odums speak yet? Are you guys going to have an official press conference to introduce him? He must be a real good orator to come up with this job. Im going to put off my judgement of this hire until I see his demeanor in front of a camera and see how much charisma he has. Since you guys were reay for Spady to get the job and you were encouraged by Spadys interview, then Im sure Odums presentation was just as good. So Ill wait to see and hear Odum speak.

Actually Odums sounds okay when he speaks. He did pretty good at those press calls that Kenn posted. Now he ain't no orator of the month type speaker. But he will sound better some SWAC coaches at the microphone. Big Worm is actually a funny guy with some personality. He ain't the charismatic guy probably like Spady is or even Jenkins may be in front of a camera. But he isn't going to embarrass himself either. The official press conference is because he was out recruiting when they took his name to the SU Board on Friday. Otherwise he would have spoken then.
My only issue I had with Big Worm this year was some of the conservativeness we had once we got a lead. Might be the DC in him. But I do like he is willing to take some chances and I noticed he didn't try to over manage the game. Like Bluedog, I was intrigued by Spady being there at Nevada with that Pistol Offense. Also hearing how folks seem to like him in the coaching ranks.
The Nation is splintered. No doubt they were waiting for a bigger hire to galvanize the fan base. Especially those around the country. Maybe even some in BR and La too. But it looks like Odums had some folks pulling for him in and around the program that have some clout. He even got an endorsement from your boy Tony Clayton. LOL.
Odums presentation from what I hear was on point and he did his homework obviously knowing the program better than other folks who had applied. I do think Jenkins would have gotten the job if he had made the decision early on to get in there and do the face to face interview after having an impressive presentation before hand to the search committee by phone and other media. But he had his irons in the fire for two OC jobs that fell through and SU didn't want to wait for nobody this time. The criticism from the last wait and see was too much for us to go through again and I am sure not only our AD didn't want to wait. But the SU Board didn't either. Not after the last time when folks didn't know if Stump was coming or not.

Not bringing someone that runs the pistol could be a blessing in disguise if that coach was going to try to make that transition next year. You have a passing offense with a senior qb. The pistol wouldn't work next year anyway. The transition from a passing to a running offense is difficult.

I'm happy. Odums is the guy who nobody wanted, but now everybody praises. He's the little ugly duckling that grew up. This will be an interesting story to say the least.

I dont know if he can assemble a good staff. He has never done it before. He will probably go with what he has and plug in coaches where necessary. Im sure he is not going to gut the coaching staff and go in a different direction.
