Stacy Danley’s future as Alabama State University’s athletic director is uncertain after school officials confirmed on Wednesday that Danley had been placed on administrative leave.

The Hornets’ athletic director, who has served a little more than 25 months on the job, was contacted by phone at his home in Auburn on Wednesday afternoon and avoided addressing the situation before hanging up.

“Stacy Danley, ASU’s athletic director, is on administrative leave with pay,” according to ASU spokesman Kenneth Mullinax. “Since this situation is a pending personnel matter due to protocol at ASU, I am not allowed to discuss any of the details.”

Sports information director Duane Lewis referred all inquiries to Mullinax. Calls to Danley’s office were not answered by his administrative assistant, Diane Brisbon. Danley’s university-issued cell number has been disconnected.

Danley was appointed to the position by the board of trustees on July 23, 2010. He is the ninth athletic director in the last 11 years for the university, which includes interim stints by then-basketball coach Rob Spivery, former football coach Ron Dickerson, former volleyball coach Sonya Price and John Knight.
Wait, What???? Cell phone disconnected??? 9th AD in 11 years????

Hate to hear this especially at this time of year & opening week. Yal have a lot of good things going on & now this. Hope all turns out well & quickky

9th AD in 11 years? That's embarrassing for not only the university, but the SWAC as a whole.

What does this have to do with the SWAC? Nothing. This is all on Bama State, and seems to be a tradition over there. You get something started, then someone else ends up finishing it. No stability whatsover.

Okay Bama Staters get in here and do some 'plaining...don't make me make a call tomorrow morning and come back in here with the real deal by noon!

I think JSU folks get a hard on for trouble ay other folks schools. They are the most miserable fans in America.

he was placed over there to begin with by Damon Evans after Evans thought he was too good for the job, but Evans still had some say in matters

he still lived in Auburn so you see where his heart was and the president that hired him is long gone

So are you saying if he lived in Tuscaloosa, he wouldn't be on paid leave at all? LOL!! Many Bama State fans are diehard Tide fans, so I guess they do have their standards.

Mont-town? Huh?

Anyway ...so what did he do MH
You been miiiighty quiet lately
what he do...steal some money
harassed the secretary ...is he the one that encouraged
ASU to build a 33k seat stadium for your 8k home fans
and y'all have just now figured out that's silly?
Perhaps he hadn't begged Tuskegee to come back and save y'all
Come on MH...what he do?

Yea come MH this is no time to be on the high road...you have got to be pissed about this...what did he do to betray the true of school and you the alumni?

Damon Evans helping out over there too how many damn black schools is he advising ? Does he all of a sudden wanna be the AD now dude making a killing consulting everybody

sorry DCG, but it's always time to be on the high road. And no, I'm not pissed. I have always accepted the fact that the players (Pres, board, coach, AD, etc) will change, but the school will still stand. ASU is moving forward in a helluva lot of ways. I do like (and agree with) Danley's statement “Alabama State, with or without Stacy Danley, has a chance to be extremely special,” he added. “There has been a tremendous amount of progress made since I’ve been the athletic director. I’m still the athletic director there and I’m so excited about the future at Alabama State.”

My excitement "about the future at Alabama State" has not changed at all. It's A Great Time To Be A Hornet!!!

About to head out for the beach. And then on to kick Bethune. :D

GO HORNETS!
