TSPN Atlanta: What can you tell me about Austell?

SU Jag 79

Jaguar ALUM
I'm getting closer to this thing becoming real and starting to close in on a date for this move and the lady and I have cut our list down to four cities: Marietta, Smyrna, Austell, and Kennesaw.

I got help on Kennesaw from Antroy (appreciate it man!) and I've done Marietta and Smyrna myself.

I'm a bit of a homebody, but my baby is not and wants to be close to the ATL "life", but not too close.

Anything I should know about Austell?

Thanks in advance!

What do you want to know? I live in the next town over...Powder Springs. Pass thru part of Austell daily...

Marietta, Smyrna, Austell are all the same thing to me... lol... If you stay in one its just like you stay in the other one. They are all minutes apart. I would stay there as opposed to the Kennessaw area.... its much closer to everything.... and it makes you feel like you are in Atlanta.

what's the 411 on Duluth?

everything you need is there... BUT Traffic into and out of Atlanta is a BEAST from Duluth during rush hour. If you work there, its great.. but if you work in the city HELL na.

So Duluth is suburbia?
What the houses look like and go for there?
Like, what kind of feel you get?
Oh and about how long a drive to the city during rush hour vs
Non- rush hour?

Thanks

I would choose Smyrna if you want to be as close to the city as possible plus the I-75 and 285 is close by. Austell is closer to I-20 but it puts you on the outter westside of the city, thats too far unless you know the back cuts. Duluth is just too far, I have a friend who stays in Lawrenceville and the drive to get into the city is taxing thats without traffic....

The houses are nice, some of them old because before the big boom Duluth and Lawrenceville were regular towns. You will feel like you are in another city if you moved to Duluth opposed to cities like Smyrna and Marrietta, Sandy Springs. Even though Duluth is suburbia it will take you about 15 minutes to get to I-285 and thats not even the city limit yet. Duluth is an old fashion town just like Lawrenceville. Its a nice place to stay, the houses are affordable but just too far away, hell I couldnt even find a liquor store out there lol...

I suggest Smyrna. I lived there 4 years. Nice area and minutes away from downtown Atlanta. Really good location to be outside the city and close enough to get to it when needed. Last I checked, good school district too.

Wait a Minute!!!! no liquor store!!?!!!
lol..

Seems like it could be nice, I just wanna do my job, then return to a peaceful spot.

Thanks for the info.

now were exactly is this Smyrna place?

If you like to drink and kick it Smynra, Marrietta and Kennesaw is not for you. They don't play out there.

?????

I would hope you're not drinking and driving anywhere. Otherwise there are plenty of black bars and lounges in Smyrna/Marietta. Sportsline on Windy Hill, Applebee's on Spring Rd, JR Crickets on S. Cobb are just a few and are all jam packed on the weekend.

I live in Powder Springs and it takes me about 30 minutes to get into the city (without traffic). I suggest you get a spot as close to your job as possible. I work in Roswell and it takes well over an hour in the evening to get home! I too like Smyrna but only certain parts which are right off of 285 and is called Vinings. That area is pretty pricey though.

Smyrna and Vinings aren't the same thing. And there's only a small area where they interjoin, VERY small right along Atlanta Rd. And that isn't even the nicest part of Smyrna.

All them cities the same lol.. u cant tell when you leaving one or entering the other except Duluth is OUT there.. Marietta, Austell, and Smyrna are basically all next door... but like someone said just move close to your job lol... It will save you a headache... Traffic is what made me move OUT of Atlanta. It was cool when I stayed downtown and didnt have to really drive nowhere... but when I moved out to Morrow and had to drive to the city everyday... noooooo way.

Come on now. You know folks still kick it. Dude is young so I was just pointing that out. I ain't talking about no old cat like me. I have been past those young folk stages. That is what cabs are for.

I love Smyrna! Austell is too far from the interstate for me. I like to jump on and jump off.

I agree. Smyrna is a great place. But that the only place I lived. I don't know how DaHill say Smyrna is like Austell. Smyrna touches ATL. Cumberland Mall is like 8 minutes from downtown. Austell and Marrietta are much farther ... and Kennesaw... forget about it. I was going to visit my niece at KSU a few months ago and I thought I would never make it there.

Moving close to your job is the best idea. Thats an everyday drive. Hanging out won't be everyday unless he wants a quick divorce.

....I think the best advice is to move somewhere close to your job, with quick access to the interstate; traffic can be a pain.

Fugg all that Kennesaw, Duluth, Lawrenceville, etc. isht. That isht too far out, and plus you around a bunch of crackers; that is, if you like that kind of isht or its close to your job.

Right! That's his best bet! To find something closer to your job, but ESPECIALLY something with quick access to the interstate.

I live in South Fulton, but I don't recommend my area. Not enough GOOD, nearby places to eat (particularly healthy spots) or shop.
