Why Do "We" Leave After Halftime

You know you asking a lot from "us" to be a true fan of our sports teams. I never perceived sporting events to be social gatherings. The closes experience I had to that was high school and that was with one school, Kenwood. That was a city event. Outside of that when I went to football and basketball games, it was for the game itself. If I saw people I knew fine, if not, it was not a wasted trip.

It's not just at HBCU's that Black folks aren't interested in the football games. Shucks...my Sorors invited me to HC at Illinois State and started explaining what goes on and I'm like, "hold up...y'all don't even GO into the game?!". She was like, "heyal naw. All the Greeks stay in the parking lot tailgating and kicking it before/during/and after the game". I talked to some guys that go to IState as well...they said the same thing.

The Bears game I went to back in '93 probably in November. It had to be in the 20's. That game was not close and people did not start leaving until the fourt quarter. The schools you mentioned was not founded or caters to "us". I would not expect those students to attend sporting events in droves. And on top of that, they could go home to Chicago on weekends if they felt like it so I know attending a football game was not on the top ten list of weekend activities.

We live in a time where there are groups of people who don't want to go to game just to watch what is happening on the field. At U.S. Cellular Field, folks can buy mobile phones, play video games, hangout in the bar and the kiddies can play in the Fundamentals area.

And with more fans choosing to not attend games due to cost, traffic, unruly patrons etc, I think it would wise for the suits to come up with more ways to get people to the arenas and stay there throughout the entire game.

Remember those places like the Jerry Jones Death Star are trying to sell that place to other companies and programs so when the off season hits-they can rent the place out. So if you show how much stuff you can do beofer, during or after the event-the better.

There is a reason why Dallas is trying to develop the area around American Airlines Center. Don't be shocked if you see a stadium with a mall and movie complex in it in the near future with stores that aren't in he area.


I say that people are still not sold on HBCU football games, only the bands, and from what I heard some people don't particularly like watching their team down big before halftime and so they leave.

Must be PV fans-because they sure do run out of the Cotton Bowl after the bands pay during the PV vs Grambling game (So I've been told).
 
Folks leave after halftime because the halftime show is over by then and they want to beat the post game traffic to make it to other events. College football (particularly HBCU Football) is more than JUST a sporting event. Not everybody is there for the game...and if the game sucks, then why should they stay?

After that sorry ass band leaves the field, go home
 
People watch enough football, that the casual fan knows good football when they see it. The better question is why we dont put a product on the field that makes people want to stay.
 
Finally a reason to leave after halftime. Bc most of yall teams suck ass thats why and yall aint used to winning.
 



i LEAVE after halftime so I dont have to hear those horrible band section battles
that crap pisses me off
