Dating vs Relationship

Is there a difference between the two? Is it okay to date more than one person? I heard this topic on the radio yesterday. It was interesting to see that folks confuse the two.

I think so. Dating is more so, just kicking it and getting to know each other. There is nothing wrong with kicking it with more than one person, you need to have options. Relationship, comes with a commitment of some sort.

I agree so far. it was really amazing how folks called in and said dating more then one person was wrong. I think this is why so many folks are frustrated and unhappy now because they settle insiead of seeking out good people. We have lost the communication process of dating and relationships. You can date folks with out being physical. I think that is where folks get confused. We associate dating or hanging out, what it really is as sex. Everyone can have friends of the opposite sex to just talk to sometimes.

I agree, esp. parts in red.

Just like open relationships don't have to mean that you're sexing everyone you're dating. It means you have options or free to have options and be open/honest about it with the person(s) you're seeing. That's why I don't see anything wrong with open relationships, because I have way more respect for someone who wants the benefits of a relationship but also wants to see other people, than someone who claims they want to see a person exclusively yet secretly sleeping with other people.
Just be up front 'bout yours and what you want, because I just may want what you want.

There you have it!

For most people...once sex is involved they think the relationship is on another level. Unless that's discussed/agreed upon by both parties involved...then it's not. That's where the confusion comes from.

Some folks can't participate in casual sex..and that's not a bad thing it's just that everyone needs to be honest with him/herself and the other person.

To answer your question :)
Dating= no committment, seeing other people

Relationship- agreed upon by both parties that it's exclusive.

This one chick called in and said men and women can't be friends, especially if you are married or in a relationship. :shame: I can't understand why do folks thank everyone is always trying to screw somebody. Man we got to get away from this.

So why call it an "open relationship" and not just dating?! Does it make it sound better?

When did the term "open relationship" come about!? I think that's another problem with the dating/courting/relationship game...all these new terms keep popping up to describe the same thing it's confusing folks and how to go about handling the situation.

:lmao::lmao::lmao:

Michael Baisden show?!?!

If so...I heard the mother that called in and said her daughter would not be dating until she graduated from high school. I was like, "poor baby...will have no social skills and will not know how to interact with boys"!:shame:

I think there's a slight difference. Open relationships are enjoying the benefits of a committed relationship (ie, quality time, physical intimacy, doing the couple thang, staying in touch throughout the day/week, etc.) but still open to seeing others.

I really think people customize on how they want their open relationships to be. I'm sure there are people in open relationships who have multiple sexual partners. Whereas another person in another open relationship is only intimate with one person but dates other people.

People should do what works for them and just be open and honest about it. And practice safe sex!

That first statement I bolded is crazy :retard::retard::retard::retard:

Second statement is so very true!:clap::clap:

Don't see how anyone can confuse the two; dating is grabbing a meal, or going bowling, or going skating, or seeing a movie, whatever. Relationship is being emotionally & physically invested into a person enough to make him/her a husband/wife. That's my personal opinion.

yeah. That's why folks messed up now. No social skills.

All people need to do is communicate what they want and stop playing so many games. If adults would just act like grown folks, all this confusion would go away. No need to be confused...either you're dating (keeping your options open) or you're in an exclusive, monogamous relationship.

And thats the key word difference in those two, invested. But i'll take it a bit further....either you're single or you're married, call it whatever you want in between though, but you are still either/or. the world's system has dumbed down the thinking with all these labels to make people feel better about what they are doing. Call it this and you can have this without giving this, or call it that and it means you don't have to give up that, its all deceit.
