How about ain't nobody worried about Southern. SUs football legacy rivals that of Alcorn. No matter who you get, you (like Alcorn) have to go thru JSU and Grambling. :lecture:

I mean really who cares? :noidea:

who ever they get, just bring them to Jackson for
their annual beatdown..regardless if we're having a good or bad season.

Let down .... FOR YOU.

We don't need a big name. We have everything in place except for a young talented coach.

OOOOOOOOOOOO K.

BTW:
You don't have the on-field talent you think you got and it showed this year ON THE FIELD.

Uhh, the last time WE did this, that guy proceeded to do just that .... GO THROUGH JSU and Grambling. And even though we lost this year, going through either one of them hasn't been that hard as of late.

No smack .... what is SU missing, since you want to be an expert here?

ON-FIELD TALENT.
Especially on offense cause what I have seen ain't gonna do the next coach any good at SU.
Ain't no shame in admitting that part also.

JSU gonna revamp our entire offense ............
That's why we making coaching changes on that side of the ball and getting a new Head of Football operations that can do some better recruiting.
ESPECIALLY IN THE JACKSON METRO and MISSISSIPPI.

Uh Mike Bigg......what Jag said someone is smacking. MH is a Bama State alum. Please pay attention. I know you are in disarray since we fired your buddy Bumpy.

Hell yeah...he borrowed my lighter and $20 about 10 years ago and I ain't never got my lighter back.

Hence the coaching changes.

If the new coach will have them, Southern will return two young quarterbacks, one of which did get some playing time this year (McGinty). The running back corps only loses Ja'Mal Titus (special teams) and Brian Threat (who ran like a mouse). Receivers, we lose Stewart, Cushingberry, and Allen (maybe Jeremy Paul too). (Banks, Evans, Jordan .... I could go on)

More important than who we lose is the type of offense that is ran. If the new coach continues the spread, then yes, the offense will have issues. If he reverts to a more ball control style, then the rest of y'all are in trouble.

He also has a young defense that was baptized by fire this year. The right coach can get this group moving forward. Then, you can't think the new coach wouldn't have connections to bring in his type of players to mesh with what Southern has today.

That's why I said all we are missing is the coach. He has facilities coming in, talent that was not used the right way, and a young team to grow with. Matter of fact, he would have just about as much as Richardson had coming into 1993, save for a senior quarterback in Eric Randall and the lack of facilities then.

Gentlemen, if I may, (I know this is your territory, so the LIONESS will tread lightly and with caution), if any of the SU alum has any clout whatsoever in this critical decision, or if any of you have "friends in high places", or if you KNOW ANYONE who has "friends in high places".............................PLEASE GOD, DON'T LET IT BE MELVIN SPEARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!:(

I'm sorry guys; I don't mean any disrespect to any of you or your respective alums, but I just had to get that out of my system.

Thanx for letting me put in my 2 pennies! As you were, gents!

Did Spears personally say or do something to you to make you despise him??? I know when he coached at Grambling, he put a foot in UAPB's butt.

Boy, a lot of people, who happen to not be Southernites, appear to be extremely worried about this situation.

I wonder why .....

We TOLD Y'all we weren't playing anymore.

Man please. Yall been suffering for the last six years and you're just now making a change, so don't start smellin yourself.
You guys did the same thing when james b*ll was fired. You couldn't stop talking about JSU. Then you did the same thing when Woody's job was up in the air. Turnabout is fair play.

Oh, I thought she was commenting that way because she wants him as UAPB's Offensive Coordinator... Lioness, come "splain youself woman".

I got a short list for the next Head Coach on the Bluff......

Henry Frazier (PV Head Coach)
Melvin Spears (TSU RB Coach/ Former Grambling HC)
Lawrence Kershaw (FAMU OC/OL Coach)
Eric Dooley (Southern WR coach)
Cliff Yoshida (Grambling DC)
Wille Slater (Tuskeege HC)
Charles Coe (Former Alabama State HC)

It just dawned on me that Su and JSU has had coaching problems for a long time, not to say that I didn't know about JSU but more so towards recognizing that Su had a problem. The thing is, SU's coaching staff fromm the glory years are no longer their minus a few so their goes their success. Pete has helped a lot of their coaching staff land good paydays and plus Pete, lol, trusting his current staff the way he did does not speak volumes about him :noidea:! Well, best of luck to y'all on the recruiting job.

Hell Pete inherited the same type of team that a new coach will now........one that is young. Randall was just going into his Soph year in 93. Remember Randall was the starting QB in 93, 94 and 95.

Jayrob.........you have no clue. 6 years ago Pete won the SWAC and a Black College Championship..........5 years ago he was back in the SCG. His downfall was 2005 and 2006. Picked it up a little in 07 then fell down again in 08 and 09.

Certainly not like Bell who came in a took yall down immediately with talent on the roster.

Not to mention it aint like yall fired Bell with one year left to go on his contract.

You are the only person on this thread that don't get it. Even Beans gets it, even when being messy.

Just prepare for another year of Comegy cursing you out in front of everybody.:D

In other words, winning the BC that year saved his azz!

On top of that I think going 3-4 with a smack brand system and coach is condsidered "suffering"......

What was Pete's 3rd season record... hell his first 3 years record....

Pete never had a 3-4 record.....

How is that change and hope working out for yall jsu?

For Central State and Ft. Valley.
Otherwise it's 4-7.

Difference: Pete HAD won for us before and had glimmers of getting back to that. Hence the reluctance to get rid of him in 2007. We talked about you when Bell was fired because you had to go through the entire three years and throughout it, people like you kept telling us he was going to get it together in the offseason. He never did. With Woody, we assumed (and were wrong) that you would have to push Comegy out to get him out. Congrats.

We didn't tell you who to go after though. That's what I seeing in here from outsiders, like they know what's good for Southern.

Doesn't matter who he lost to in the end .... the same things kept popping up that cost us games ..... coaching decisions. Those two wins could have been over Tuskegee and J-State and everything else still happens the same way and he would STILL be looking for a job today.

Damn, my bad. I thought Randall was a senior. Well, history ..... repeat yourself!

Spears is a good coach, but I think he received a bad rap with all the rumors about his personaltiy. Not to try to take shots at you but i think if you watched the reality T.V. show that was shown in 2006 he was a very influential coach and meant a lot to the players. I think when he got fired a lot of people probably looked down on him and felt he was the coach that they anticipated!

Gramblinites, get out of this dayum thread. If su wants our leftovers, then let them have 'em. We don't give a fat rat's azz who their next coach is. We still gonna kick that azz! :lecture:

All this crap about "su was Doug's first choice" and "prez was a suCKAnite". If su let greatness like that escape them, then they are some StUpid mofos.

Here suCKAS, let us throw you some scraps. :fart:

Now that's funny
