So What Happens If/When The SCG Ends?

I gave you one large sum for the SCG. It costs both schools nothing...zero...zilch, to play in the game....not one dime. I can't get much clearer than that. The NCAA on the other hand.....LOL!!

I see your point but I still don't like the SCG with the 9 game mandate. I never anything about the playoffs, you brought the playoffs up. Playoffs or no playoffs, muck the SCG.

Speaking of Braddy, he and his staff are total jokes who don't know how to coordinate events. Jackson has so many businesses that would love to be partner with JSU, but he hasn't marketed very well.

Supports give money to people in charge who have money. Nobody wants to give their money to a shaddy or questionable person. The best person to recruit business donors and money to JSU is right under their noses. EDDIE PAYTON. Eddie has a golf tournament during the Southern Heritage Classic in Memphis that bring out the major stars and major dollars for JSU. People, especially other race folk will give Eddie money because they know he has money and won't steal. You have to have money in order for others to give you money. Can I get a AMEN from anybody.

He should have been JSU's A.D. but the powers know that Eddie will get rid of the bullshatters.

No :noidea:

Like the defunct Southwest Conference did, the SWAC should disband, because the conference is like stagnant water, going no where and holding back those schools that really should move up to another division.

Instead of the SWAC disbanding, it might be easier for those schools who feel that they have the ability and the resources to move up to just leave.

You opinion don't matter to me because you are a monkey or a scalped injun. How many comm. cups have you clowns won or how many championships in anything? You don't matter douche bag.

:lol::lol:

tomcat1, please change your screen name to dumbcat1 and crawl back into your douche bag. :retard: :noidea:

I see you don't know the reason why the SWC disbanded and it damn sure wasn't because it was stagnant!

Yep...... no one is looking to raid the Swac of any schools

Jackson State will add no more money to the budget by playing UAPB or Prairie View every year. Southern won't make any money traveling to Valley every other year. Alabama State will not profit from a mandated road game against Prairie View. If someone can show me the money then I will change my stance.

That goes both ways.....PV makes no extra money playing jsu in Texas and neither does Tx Southern.

Now this is where things get a little dicey, the lead three schools, carrying the others. This is why I don't like the mandate, but I don't mind the SCG.

These alledged three is carrying no one but themselves. I don't know why ya'll think that the conferance would wither away if you left. The football teams in the West will continue to be supportive of each other. Seems like jsu needs the western teams more than the western teams need jsu.....a lot more.....

If you all had not lucked up and won a couple of East Championships, you would still be against the SCG. I see your attitude has changed. But you have a right to be positive, because you all tricked SU to move a home game to Jackson.

MD, I have always been a supporter of the SCG (maybe not for it to be in Bham) and also the Heritage Bowl.

Also, JSU has never lucked into a SCG. That would be AAMU. Now that the 9-game mandate is in effect, you can kiss Bham goodbye. If we always had this mandate, AAMU would have never to this day gone to Bham for the SCG and Hughes would have never been fired so we would have never heard of James Bell. Hughes was a victim of the 7-game format.

JSU, GSU, and SU will always have the advangate because we are in the Big 3. The rest of you have to beat at least two out of 3 of us to get to Bham. Whereas we only have to beat two of the Big 3.

No SWAC school has the resources to move up alone....and the hate from the schools that didn't move up would be un-real.

Aint any of us financially or athletically ready to move up...

I think the SCG becomes a moot point and is potentially anti-climatic. But since it's in place...Grambling will continue to participate and win more championships.

In the meantime... I hope all of us sign up for some good regional FCS ooc matchups cuz there's plenty of them out there that might be good home and home attendance games.

Possible Home and Homes:

TxSU adds Texas State and Stephen F Austin
PV adds Sam Houston State and SF Austin
UAPB adds Univ Central Ark and Northwestern
Grambling adds Univ Central Ark and Northwestern
SU adds McNeese and Southeastern
JSU adds McNeese
MSVU adds Southeastern and Samford
Bama State adds Jacksonville
A&M adds Samford
Alcorn adds Southeastern and Nichols (Tad Gormley/New Orleans)

Why does everyone always include SAMFORD... their football program as of now is UNDER AAMU. Jacksonville State and UNA are above Samford.

What the SWAC needs to do is ask the NCAA for a 12 game schedule. We don't go to the playoffs anyway, so a 12th game every year would solve our problem. That way teams could get 3 OOC games every year. Our folks just ain't that smart though.

Actually, because I don't know any other FCS schools in Alabama... if there's someone else, that's cool. UNA is there...play them if it would be a better draw for your fans to come out.

Even if it meant going to court... I had suggested this in prior years.

They are smarter than you think. In fact, when the NCAA denied 1-AA schools the chance to play a 12th game, they were VERY smart. It's simple math. If you give 1-A schools a 12th game, that a TOTAL of 110 extra games a year. Where are they going to get those 110 games from? ... 1-AA and lower tier FBS teams. Then who are we left to play? The solution to all of this would be to either eliminate the 12th game played by FBS teams or revert back to the old rule of not letting 1-AA schools count for Bowl eligibility. That would force more 1-A vs 1-A matchups and put us back to the time when we had no problem filling our schedule with 1-AA opponents.

DaHill,

I agree... honestly the OVC is not so far ahead of the SWAC in general. The Southland either. We suffer mainly from match-up problems. You can't put our 3-8 teams against their 8-3 teams.

I think yall miss the reasoning behind my playing them...it's not that I think they are better, but I'm thinking in terms of revenue. Hopefully these regional matchups will spark fan interest and game attendance. In the case of Grambling, we're 73 miles from Natchitoches (Northwestern's home city) so it makes sense to see if we can create a matchup that fans would be interested in. Same with Central Arlkansas...about a 2 hour drive and Arkansas is a state that we recruit students from.

This creates a pool of schools for our home and home...(remember we have 3 neutral site games with Conference opponents so we need home games).

Arrange them so that we can have a nice home matchup package each season.

Year 1. Jackson, Northwestern, Valley, Bama State

Year 2. Alcorn, Central Ark, TxSU, A&M

I understand your point MikeBigg. That was the argument I made with Braddy about playing Delta State. Delta State only drew 12000 fans to Memorial but we don't get that many fans when AAMU comes to town. We don't have any 1-AA PWCs in MS but we have one of the top D2 programs in the nation in MS and I think we should open our season every year in Memorial against them.....and then go to Memphis. Delta State and TNState would be good games to prepare us for our SWAC schedule.

Why ask the NCAA to solve our problems when we can't do it with 11 games?

A 12th game is not the answer to our needs anyway. Getting the opportunity to play 3 OOC games would have been answered by a 8 mandate and not a 9 game mandate.

Playing the SCG is worthless and makes no sense.

2007 proved that the SCG has a place. It was re-match and the same team didn't win both games. In fact, JSU didn't play well vs gram the first time at all.

I don't agree with an 8 game mandate either...maybe if we had 12 teams but what is the sense in playing 8 out of 9 teams.

2007 didn't prove anything..........

With 8 games you play the other 4 teams in your division and then 4 of the 5 in the other division with a rotation of 1 team off and on from the other division every year. Unlike what they have now where 2 teams rotate on and off every 2 years. With that you won't have to play a team from the opposite division as a OOC since you would only miss playing them 1 out of every 5 years.

Example:

Team 1's Schedule against the other division

2010 - Team A, B, C, D......Team E is out
2011 - Team B, C, D, E......Team A is out
2012 - Team C, D, E, A......Team B is out
2013 - Team D, E, A, B......Team C is out
2014 - Team E, A, B, C......Team D is out

With this there is no stress about anyone missing a "so called" money game for more than 1 year.

I understood what you were saying without the example. I just don't see the sense in playing 8 games out of 9. You may as well play the other one.

...and yes, 2007 proved that the SCG is a worthy venture. 43000K fans where the underdog came out on top was a great thing.
