UNO Heads to Southern (Baseball)

Poor dude. :smh:

His Bearcats have fallen out the SLC race for the title...
His Privateers now 0-2 against a SWAC school...
His athletic department is on the verge of being scrapped...

Poor dude. :smh:

Bearkats are right where we want them - in the thick of things for the SLC tournament. They have been in a similar position the last two years and won the tournament. The pitching depth is there. Learn how to spell... ;)

Privateers are a young squad, but what do you expect after 8, 9 guys go to the pros? They actually are banged up pretty good and had a catcher pitch an inning for the first time this season tonight and held out two, three relief pitchers. Not making excuses by any stretch because SU is a good squad, though I am not sure the pitching to compete at the NCAA level is there. Speed kills and the defense is much improved from what I have seen in the past.

The squad has been struggling mid-week (think they are 2-12 in such games). Weekend series matter more for obvious reasons - conference. As coach says, you are only as good as your next day's starting pitcher. They have won last few series in SBC play, which include two road series in Florida (one of the best places to be when you are winning!) and now have gone from dead last to 5th since a tough 0-5 week over spring break. This is a young team that will be better. Expect good things in the future. Reminds many I talk to about the season before the last two, which were NCAA years (and years in which the team won series against LSU and Tulane both times out).

And well - I can't say anything on the last subject. I've shared a little, but there's lots of things that just can't be said. Can tell you that everyday is an exciting day at work.

Sorry for taking so long - but just got in from Red Stick.

So how was Lee Hines. On a side note Jones should have been a Jag. SU offered him a partial, UNO offered a full. Really love that kids game. He is going to be a star.

Southern baseball blasts UNO, 11-5

They got healthy, they got hits and they got momentum.

Maybe, for the Southern baseball team, life is about to come full circle at exactly the right time.

Tuesday night at Lee-Hines Field, eight days before the start of the Southwestern Athletic Conference tournament, the Jaguars enjoyed something of a return to form against the University of New Orleans. They jumped on the Privateers early and pounded out 15 hits en route to an 11-5 victory that not only wrapped up SU’s regular season, but likely gave the Jaguars the kind of mental boost they wanted heading into the postseason.

“We showed some discipline at the plate and really had some good at-bats. I was really pleased with our approach,” SU coach Roger Cador said. “I was pleased with how many good hits we had with two strikes. ... We saw some good arms today, and we had to make some things happen, and we did it.”

I can't say I disagree on what you think about his game. Hitting over .300, has speed and makes nice plays in the field. He had a nice contingent of fans at the game and seemed to know quite a few of the "early-birds" at the ballpark when he made his way to greet family pre-game.

Gee.... when a SWAC teams gives that explanation, we all are not a complete team to you.

Baseball, where pitchers are a huge part of the game, is different. Top three arms go on the weekend. In hoops - much different. Can't slump through OOC play with 0-12 record. Does nothing to help you prep for conference.

I'm talking baseball in a baseball thread. Where in the hell did basketball come from? :retard:

Hope UNO can field a team next year. :scared:

Hey Error, is it true that your Athletic department is being scrapped? Is it?

Look at this STUPIDITY he posted (now I know we beat a ranked team this year in San Diego State, and played a good decent game against a top 3 team in the country in LSU):

Always a "snide" remark attached along the tail end of a rare compliment.

The remark was based along the lines that I think the pitching is very hittable and is not going to be a true threat at the NCAAs against the elite teams.

They'll have to capitalize on speed, which from what you guys tell me is the attribute of most SWAC teams. I like their hitting (namely Franklin, who I hope gets drafted very high) and the third baseman last night had a very strong arm, made some great plays.

"At the NCAAs"? Come on dude, Southern is a member of the NCAA.

When one refers to "at the NCAAs", it is typically perceived that you mean at the championship or tournament - whether you are referring to hoops, basketball, track and field or tennis.

And yes, Southern is a member of the NCAA, as are all the other SWAC schools. Division I in all sports, including football. Can you believe that? Go figure!

Hook, line and sinker everytime with you.

I drew you into that because you are always so quick to jump on a FCS poster if they say "we will play two Div. I schools next season" when everyone knows what they mean but not you.... you and your "Come on guys! You are Div. I" bullshit.

I know all about the championships being called "NCAA's" but us collegiate athletes call it "NC's". I should know, I've participated in three of them. How many have you?

It's a double draw........I knew what he was trying to say also........But since he didn't say it and I watch the Fox Network from time to time  :emlaugh: I can play the game too.......... :emlaugh:

Hey TT, since when did camouflage become the primary color for the Privateers? :retard:

With you being a big time proponent of teams only wearing their primary colors, you must have had an aneurism watching this game right?

Haven't heard anything lately on the status of UNO's athletic department's life support vest thrown out by the "rich dude".

I think it's bad business to not keep the public updated on such a "disturbing" situation? :smh:
