SWAC Baseball records

Mike was at SU on academic scholly not baseball and he wasn't on the 03 team.

Never said he was on that 03 team was saying in general that Cador never gave huge scholly. Baseball is not that type of sport. Was just saying the scholarship arent always the reason not to get talent. It was a old story in baseball America where Ron Polk said he gave Rafiel Palmerio his larest scholarship ever and he just paid his full tuition the rif with him and Clark stared cause Clark was only getting 500 dollars on his books

However black colleges do have to over reward when the same kid would take 25 dollars and a hat to join a SEC club its a damn shame. I speak with black parents all the time about that. It's a damn shame

Before Cador lost some of the scholarships the way they offered came back to bite them and players started visiting other campuses and the rest was history.....it used to be so easy they could just offer out of state waivers and kids would sign because no one else was recruiting

once kids say other campuses along with better offers things changed

I know of a draft pick from Cali. who was offered an out of state waiver by SU but all it took by PV was a maybe 2 or 3 more thousand and he was sold...that kid became the freshman of the year or damn near the second best freshman in 2005.....

the scary part with a school like PV....when the facilities are done along with other things, it's going to be hard to beat them when if coaches recruit right

Your in Houston alone there to be in Texas and a major city there is no way some of the talent he let go out of state should have went.

I talked with Jesse Barfield on a flight his son got drafted in the 8th round last year signed with Jackson State but signed. He was never contacted by TSU said his son was messing with two chicks over that way. The talent pool is so big in Texas you could win just with the talent from the state.

I work with the staff with MVP out of Atlanta the best black high school talent participates in this event two years ago 6 out of 10 programs were there. There out there we just dont do a proper job finding them.

There is a abundant of talent just here in the Houston area alone and I would say that our coaches are missing out on that talent. A lot of these kids end up signing with Junior Colleges out of high school.

Jesse use to coach out of our facility (Big League Baseball Academy in Tomball) and I can tell you his son was going to get drafted and was not going to go to college (jsu). Just like Charlie Hayes (BLBA is his facility) son (Tyree) did a few years ago when he signed with a school in the Carolina's but was going to get drafted. We have a lot of talent coming down the pike coming out of our organization. The hard part is keeping this talent together since when they hit the high school level their coaches try (will) keep their team together know as a team in the summer. I know my son may have to play Gold Gloves with his high school team instead of playing with BLBA this year.

Our coaches can get big inroads if they just get with these organizations to see the talent when they are young and talk with their parents about their school. PV could get a ot of talent from the area just by doing this alone.

We will be sending a few teams to the Perfect Pitch Tournament this year too.

Yeah Jeremy started off so slow at San Jac we thought he might make it to campus next thing we know he hit 7 homers in 9 games. Yeah its huge to get in with those travel team coaches its almost like basketball with aau you just have to show up. Let me know I think we are trying to get a Houston team to MVP this year also

I don't know about all of what you are saying cause in the same sense I know about 4 kids trying that won't be coming back to SU next year. The Mystique has been lost he should have capitalized after 03 and he didnt he can work to get it there but its going to be too tough. Cador been giving kids much to nothing anyways so it works out in the same way. Hell Weeks and Mike woods was only getting 750.00 a semester. the rule that is going to kill Cador is the roster limit when he would have 60 kids on the team and talent just sitting and eventually just giving up on baseball that is where teams our catching up. However he started loosing that in 03. The SWAC is two decades from making it to Omaha if Cador is still coaching then hell he deserves it. If you really are thinking you are going to make it to Omaha I got some swamp land in FL to sell you for the low low
Rickie wasnt on a baseball scholarship.

Rickie wasnt on a baseball scholarship.

Rickie was getting 750 the rest he was getting academic wise. The story sounds better academic wise I know Rickie and his pops on personal level that's why I know what he was getting. His younger brother participated in the event in Atlanta trust his dad tells the same story everywhere. He had to sign some dollar amount to sign a National Letter of Intent same with Woods

Maybe at first, but Cador always tells the story how Rickie wasnt on a baseball scholarship.

And thats why folks field teams with 2 good pitchers. You cant offer a kid that much and field a complete team.

none of the Barfields were going to a 4-year college.....my cousin trained with the dad in Tomball and it was said way back in 2002 it was pro or bust....

A black kid who can really play in Texas is hard to get....PV signed a monster from the JUCO ranks last year who got drafted for the second time and took the offer, signed the ace pitcher from that same team who never could get the grades...had one pitcher signed one year who got drafted late and never showed up as that was 95 mile per hour guy...

they were after all of the black kids from Tomball but they have a different mode of thinking out there despite being 20 miles away...

the one freshman that signed at PV for 2010 is the RBI Series MVP...if he played at a team like Bellaire, etc. he's not coming...

Actually Jeremy had already paid for his Apartment. He went into to long talks just happened the basically they threw out 3rd round money. We can get those type kids but until we recruit them seriously we will never know

I kind of agree with idea of reducing the number of teams in the tournament. In fact, I am going to take it a step further and say how about the SWAC have a best of three or five championship series pitting the East champ against the West champ for the right to play in the NCAA Tournament?

That way you would almost guarantee the best teams representing the conference in the NCAAs.

I know a bunch of teams would be upset if something like this ever happened. However, the idea is interesting.

I agree.

You are so right. I heard that a few alumni from SU and JSU are going to talk to the commissioner about this prior to the tournament next week. Those #4 teams have some embarrassing records.

like that will help....this ain't the 90s...:emlaugh:

You need to team up with the muttpound. A dog and a panther might make a sly fox, this way maybe ya'll can outsmart the swac and find a way to get past SU and GSU on your plan to the SCG.

You mad because puke view won't win the commissioner's cup. I know you were watching those results.:lol:
