BATON ROUGE, La. – The University of New Orleans baseball team will travel to Southern for a 6 p.m. Tuesday contest at Lee-Hines Field.

The game will be televised live on Cox Sports Television and can also be heard locally on WGSO 990 AM. Fans can also listen to the game online at WGSO.com.

The Privateers (22-29) are entering the final week of the regular season and are riding high. UNO jumped into fifth place in the Sun Belt Conference standings after winning their fourth consecutive SBC series this past weekend against Arkansas-Little Rock.

Prior to hosting Louisiana-Lafayette this weekend, the Privateers will focus on a Southern (25-14) squad that handed UNO one of its worst losses of the season in March.

The Jaguars defeated UNO 18-3 on March 24 at Maestri Field. Southern scored 12 runs in the first three innings, with Brad McDavid and James Armstrong combining for eight hits and 12 RBIs.

Southern, UNO set to tangle

John Pavich peered in for the sign from his catcher. Michael Thomas dug into the batter’s box, waiting for the pitch.

Pavich, the University of New Orleans’ starting pitcher, wound up and delivered. His throw never found the catcher’s mitt. Instead, it found the back of Thomas’ left hand, knocking the Southern catcher out of action for nearly two months.

That happened in the first inning of Southern’s 18-3 blowout win at the University of New Orleans. That was March 24.

It was one of those small-but-important moments that crop up during a long season.

For both teams, that moment seems like it happened a long, long time ago.

As the Jaguars (25-14) wrap up their regular season at 6 p.m. today against the Privateers at Lee-Hines Field (22-29), both teams have other things on their minds. They look different. They feel different. But they could be headed in the same direction.

Now you know SU gonna experiment! You know that's gonna be the excuse!

The game against LSU-E was a exibition, didnt count in the record books, so SU could experiment. This game counts. How many OC wins does Gram have again. Oh yea 1, Centenary. SU already beat UNO 18-3. UNO kicked Gram to sleep.
