Game #13 - Southern Edges Jackson State, 7-6

Southern totaled 14 hits to advance past Jackson State 7-6 and solidify a
spot in the 2009 SWAC Championship Game.

Southern will meet Mississippi Valley State in the title game at 12 noon
on Sunday, April 26. It will be the fifth time in the last six years the
two teams have met in the Championship game.

With the loss, Jackson State is eliminated from the tournament.

Yea Valley has beaten SU 5 of the last 6 years in the softball championship. SU only has 1 pitcher so its going to be tuff. Their other pitcher has been out the entire season with a injury. They need a little help. :lol:

Our score keeper usually keeps the pitch count - I didn't check with the pitching coach to get the number last night.

Come on SU, keep those winless toothless tigers from winning anything. tissue U haven't won a championship this year, lets keep them 0 for 17. They won't win outdoor track.

Anyway Clebo, what evidence do you have that Su track team was bragging about a fight while you were working the tsu relays. Speculation buddy.

Damn. This is something. SU had bases loaded 0 outs. We got out of the inning.

Short pop fly to right field and we turned a double play at home. Questionable call on the throw to home - SU runner should've been called safe but because there was contact with the catcher he was called out.

That was our doble play that made it two outs. Then, ground ball to the SS got us out of the inning.

6-6 in the 12th.

8-6 TSU.

It was 6-6 with runners on 1st and 2nd with 2 outs.

Ground ball to the short stop and he throws a really good throw to the 1st basement. He just drops it.
