Peppers trade list only has 4 teams

First Ray Lewis wants in, now Julius Peppers. LOL. I don't blame them. The Cowboys are THE FRANCHISE to play for.

Let's see . . . we could trade Marcus Spears (garbage), Brady James (garbage), Roy Williams (hot garbage), and Terrance Newman (overrated garbage) for Peppers, sign Ray Lewis and then switch to a 4-3 defense. Ware and Peppers would be hellacious and Ray would be free to roam.

SMH, people say the most strangest things on message boards, think before you talk dude, do you actually think the cowboys are going to trade 4 defensive starters for peppers, i think not, spears and james are great players and terrance is a pretty good cornerback, cowboys just need quailty FS and SS, roy williams is not the answer. and ray lewis will retire a raven.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - The Carolina Panthers placed the franchise tag on defensive end Julius Peppers on Thursday, setting up a potential nasty showdown with their four-time Pro Bowl defensive end who wants to play elsewhere next season.

The move came moments after the Panthers signed All-Pro left tackle Jordan Gross to a six-year deal worth more than $30 million in the first three seasons. Having locked up Gross, the Panthers then placed the non-exclusive tag on Peppers, who had said he would request a trade under that scenario.

"Julius was expecting to be franchised," Peppers' agent, Carl Carey, wrote in a text message. "We will continue to work toward a resolution that is in line with his professional goals."

Under the non-exclusive franchise tag rules, Carolina offered Peppers a one-year guaranteed deal worth $16.7 million that will immediately count against the salary cap. While Peppers can still solicit offers from other teams, any club signing Peppers would have to surrender two first-round draft picks to Carolina.

Rest story

Phreeze, What football team are you watching? They have always played in the 3-4.

When fat Siragusa retired......Ray Lewis lobbied the Ravens to get him another big NT to keep those OL from getting to him at LB.

Here is their depth chart and the way they line up. Suggs is a OLB that rushes the passer.

Don't let Ray fool you JR. They might have changed this year but that's it. I've watched that defense since the season they whooped up on my Giants in the Super Bowl back in 2000. The only other defense they lined up is the 46. Suggs lined up on the end because that where the typical LB that happens to be a pass rusher line up. See Wilbur Marshall and Otis Wilson from the 85 Bears. If you would look, both defensive have the similar line up. You rarely hear anything from the MLB in a 3-4 defense. You need two big ugly at DT to roam around the middle and Ray is taking advantage of it.

Sidenote...There is actually a NT in a 4-3. He don't have to play straight up with the center. The other DT is used for quickness.

See Booger McFarland and Warren Sapp.

Dude they run a 3-4. What are you talking about you never hear of ILB in the 3-4? Levon Kirkland was All-Pro for years in the Middle with the Steelers 3-4. Even the Saints back in the day when they had all those pro bowl lbs all were household names in Vaughn Johnson, Ricky Jackson, Pat Swilling and Sam Mills. You heard about them. Same as you heard about the old Giants of Bill Parcells set of Linebackers. All went to the Pro Bowl. Ray Lewis is gifted and he fits the 3-4 well. He does not play by himself in the middle like Singletary did. He has Bart Scott in the middle with him. Suggs and the Johnson cat are the OLB. Suggs is like Harrison for the Steelers. He rushes then he drops sometimes.

The Bears played a real 4-3. They had Hampton, McMicheal, Perry and Richard Dent on the field with Singletary, Wilson, and Marshall. Nothing like the Ravens defense.

Rex Ryan may be Buddy's son but he didn't run the 46. LOL. The Ravens don't have 2 big ugly DTs, they have the Samoan kid from Oregon in the middle at NT just Casey Hampton does it for Pittsburgh.

Ray aint fooling me..........he is telling the truth. He plays in a 3-4 defense. Why you can't see it I don't know. I guess the Ravens Depth Chart of how they run their defense is a Lie.

As a matter of fact they were saying the Jets could finally figure out what to do with my boy Gholsten from Ohio State now that they a coach who know what to do with a 3-4 defense.

Nicknamed "The Mad Scientist" for his aggressive and unpredictable game plans, Ryan prefers to run a 3-4 defensive scheme, which the Jets already have in place. New York spent big money last offseason acquiring players that excel in the 3-4, including nose tackle Kris Jenkins and linebacker Calvin Pace.

Ryan inherits a defense that had an impressive start with 29 sacks in its first eight games but just 12 in the last half of the season. The secondary also might need a makeover, ranking 29th overall against the pass despite Pro Bowl cornerback Darrelle Revis and playmaking safety Kerry Rhodes.

Ryan, who was with the Ravens for 10 seasons, was fired when the entire staff was let go after the 2007 season. Ryan interviewed for the job that went to John Harbaugh, who rehired Ryan.

I didn't say ILB. I said MLB. They may have changed this year. That's my mistake. I'll take that one to the chin. I've seen some games where they are more effective in a 4-3 than a 3-4 this season. They ran the 46 starting in the 2005 season.

46

The key feature of the "46" is that both outside linebackers play on the same side of the formation. The linebackers line up behind the linemen two or three yards from the line of scrimmage. The primary tactic is to rush five to eight players on each play, either to get to the quarterback quickly or disrupt running plays.

The formation was very effective in the 1980s NFL because it often eliminated a team's running game and forced them to throw the ball. This was difficult for many teams at the time because most offensive passing games centered around the play action pass.

This is what I mean by "don't let Ray fool you"
Many modern day NFL teams use the 46 as a package in addition to a base defense. The Baltimore Ravens in particular are known for using the 46 and variations to great effect, as the defensive coordinator Rex Ryan is Buddy Ryan's son. Rex's twin brother, Rob Ryan, is a defensive coordinator for the Oakland Raiders.

I know Ray Lewis is a hell of a football player and I would take him on my team right not to play alongside Brian Urlacher and Lance Briggs, but I have a question about his performance.

How can Ray Lewis, at his current age, still play close to the same level as the year he won NFL Defensive Player of The Year?

As many beatings as his body has tajen over the years, it is hard to believe that guy is not getting a little A-Rod help.

Peppers wants out of the Panthers so he can go play in a 3-4 Defense. He stated that awhile back. Ray Lewis has the same criteria as well. He plays in a 3-4 now.

Since when did Ray Lewis want to play in a 3-4. When B-more played a 3-4, Lewis has 2 of the worst seasons of his career, and he griped and moaned so much they went back to a 4-3......

America's Team. The most valued sports franchise in the world, the DALLAS COWBOYS!

All players want to play for the Cowboys, even Kobe!

He had bad years because they lost fat boy Siragusa and he started moaning they needed to get him a big body if they going to play the 3-4. Since they got the Oregon kid........Ray has played much better.

He has to know going to Dallas or NY he will be in the 3-4 defense. So why have those teams on your list if he hates it so much. Not to mention one of those years Ray was hurt or coming off that injury he had.

You would think Ray would pick a 4-3 defense to want to go to if he hates the current one he is in.

If you were a regular on this board you'd know I was just being sarcastic about this. I know they aren't going to trade 4 players for Julius Peppers. However, I disagree wholeheartedly with you about those 3 and their talent. Spears sucks, period. James can't find a way around, through, over or under an offensive lineman or blocking back and Terrance Newman is very overrated. He's also fragile.

C'mon now fellas get that hate outta ur blood. The Cowboys are at the cusp of being a great team, they just need to get more mentally focused to win. Peppers is no fool, he sees the potential in Da Boys and he wants on board! Just wait and see how next season turns out.... oh yea and i PITTY THE FOOL WHO CALL MY BOY ROY WILLIAMS HOT GARBAGE!!! lol:retard:

On the cusp of being a great team? This is the funniest line I have read all day.

There is no such notion in this NFL. Were the Cardinals on the cusp of being a great team before reaching the Super Bowl?

How about the Giants?

The NFL is so unpredictable now that we do not know from year to year who will contend.

If anything, Dallas has regressed.

They lose in the first-round to the Seahawks in 2006. Lost in the divisional round to the Giants last season and failed to make the playoffs in 2008 with 13 Pro Bowlers on the roster.

That is far from being great.

Man, you Cowbobys fans kill me with these outlandish statements.
