Hopefully he and his wife will be removed from power.

After seizing state TV, an army spokesman announced it was targeting people close to Mr Mugabe.
South Africa's President Jacob Zuma later said he had spoken to Mr Mugabe who had indicated that he "was confined to his home but said that he was fine".
The move may be a bid to replace Mr Mugabe with his sacked deputy, Emmerson Mnangagwa, BBC correspondents say.
The dismissal of Mr Mnangagwa last week had left Mr Mugabe's wife Grace as the president's likely successor.
Heavy gun and artillery fire could be heard in northern parts of the capital Harare early on Wednesday.
A statement read out by a general on air denied it was a coup. There was no immediate word from the president himself.

It looks like the straw that broke the camel's back is that he wanted his wife to be his successor - the military NEVER liked her - his own party turned against him.

Zimbabwe is under military control after army seizes power from Mugabe

Harare, Zimbabwe (CNN)Zimbabwe's military leaders have seized control of the impoverished southern African nation, placing longtime leader Robert Mugabe under house arrest and deploying armored vehicles to the streets of the capital, Harare.

Mugabe, 93, the world's oldest living leader, was unable to leave his home, according to Jacob Zuma, the President of neighboring South Africa. Troops were reportedly stationed at Zimbabwe's Parliament and the presidential palace.
In a dramatic televised statement early Wednesday, an army spokesman denied a military takeover was underway.

My father hated Africa. His always proclaimed that his worst military experiences were in Africa. That's a strong statement coming from a 31 year Veteran Green Beret who was a POW in Vietnam.

So far, so good. It appears the coup will be bloodless, but I dare not get overly optimistic. Too early to breathe easy.

Lets hope he turns the country around.

Zimbabwe’s new President Emmerson Mnangagwa vowed sweeping change at his swearing in on Friday, seeking to reassure foreign investors and pledging to fight poverty and corruption after Robert Mugabe’s shock resignation.

In his inaugural address, Mnangagwa set out a program of dramatic change that promised a stark reversal of many of Mugabe’s signature policies.

He pledged that his government would compensate white farmers whose land was seized by Mugabe, protect international investments in the country, and re-engage with foreign powers.

Elections scheduled for 2018 would go ahead as planned, he said.

That ^^^^^^needs to be ditched. That land was taking from the people of Zimbabwe when they were under colonial rule and known as Rhodesia. In fact, it was the most fertile land that was stolen from them at that time. What actually needs to happen is the land needs to be redistributed to the farmers it was stolen from initially with government assistance to make the farms more efficient.
