Your First Job

My first job was at this small pager/cellular phone store called Better Beepers Plus in West Covina, California during the summer of 1994. I made barely over minimum wage at the time, but that was enough to buy all of the latest tapes

Jax,

Didn't know you were a lifeguard...you can teach me how to swim. Only if you're veeeeeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrry patient, though.

LOL

:swink: :swink:

See you??? Tryin to get a brotha in trouble!!

:swink: :swink:

FYI Certified Lifeguard, First AID and CPR...

My first job was at McDonald's for 4 days...I then was contacted by the Mayor's office in Shreveport and worked there for the entire summer.

The McDonald's job taught me NOT to work in the food industry...smelling that greasy ass food cooking made me :vomit:

The job as an administrative assistant to the head of the Department of Public Works taught me it's not WHAT you know, but WHO you know...the job was a "hook up" on my well connected father's political stroke! :swink:

My first job wasn't until I got to college at Grambling. I worked as a student assistant in the Education Dept. So many administrative skills were exposed/instilled in me during the summer of 93. I actually learned a lot from my boss which helped me when it was time for my internship. Thanks Ms. Fowler for paving the way for me.

Paralegal. That alone made me want to be in the court room and further appreciate the profession of attorney.

Cashier at the Family Dollar Store during high school.

It was even more confirmation that I was destined to go to college.

My first job was as a dishwasher at a Restaurant called Charlie Warfields. My first day on the job, dishes were piled up about 2 feet and stretched out on a table for 8 feet. I was in there from 6:30pm to 1:00am washing dishes. Once I got a system down after about a week, I was waiting on the staff to give me dishes.

I learned to strive to be the best at whatever you do. Also like Ms. J4J, it was a big motivator to do well in College because I did not want to do that kind of work for the rest of my life.

Where was Charlie Warfields? I don't remember.

Cashier at Acadian True Value Hardware. I learned that I didn't want to work in a grocery/hardware store and that people will purchase alcohol early in the morning.

Candle Light Dinner Theater....worked there for a few months and then went to Pizza Inn.

I will NEVER work in food service again in my life. :dead:

It was located across the street from Bon Marche' Mall. It is now a mexican restaurant.

Oh, okay. I tell ya, I don't remember that place at all. The name does sound familiar though. What kind of food did they serve?
