Would You Have Stopped And Tried To Help?

now that is sad

This is sad! No one tried to help the man! If I would been there, I would have a least made sure the coast was clear and then go over to the victim. I would also stay to make sure the police had details about the shooter and the vehicle he drove. I guess the guy that left must of had some legal problems going on or something or maybe he just didn't care.

Stopping to help

I'm not really sure what I would have done in that situation. My heart says that I would have stopped or at least have gotten on my cell phone and dialed 911. I've seen reports on TV where they have done research that says that people are friendlier south of the Mason Dixon line, but that goes beyond the realm of being friendly. I wonder how the people who left the scene sleep at night.

Another problem all to itself......

I've taken numerous emergency calls from people that are calling in a accident and don't have any information to give. Some times they don't even know where the "L" they are at.

Example: I took a call from a lady that was calling in a accident:

Me: Fire and Amb, whats your emergency?
Her: I want to report a accident
Me: Whats the location?
Her: It's on Hwy 290 between 1960 and Fairfield
Me: Maam, thats about a 10 mile stretch can you narrow the streets down?
Her: Well, I'm turning into Fairfield now and thats what I remember.
Me: Can you tell if you remembered any businesses where the accident was.
Her: Well, I'm just doing my civic duty to call this in
Me: So you didn't stop and render aid?
Her: click......she hung up the phone

We were fortunate enough to get a call from someone that actually stopped to get a location to send a ambulance. No one wants to get involved and help anyone. You could possibly be saving someones life, what if that was you lying there and someone waited to drive 3 miles away before calling.

I would have called. That could have been my brother or any one of my relatives.

I would have stopped, called 911, given as much information as possible and then waited for the officers and paramedics to arrive before getting out of my car to answer any questions about the assailant. I don't think I would have gone over to the guy to render any aid though, and that is because of fear of the shooter returning and because I have NO first aid/medical skills at all.

I am my brother's keeper.

Reality: A lot of people don't want to get involved and caught up in something. Is it the right decision to make? Who knows. The best way to keep from getting caught up is to mind your own business. Who's to say that the shooter isn't still hanging around. Who's to say that the crazy person won't come looking for you? That's just life. If it's a family member, then maybe they won't care...but if it's a complete stranger..they'll keep on walking. The same thing would happen if someone got stabbed on a busy subway in the city.

Interesting comments.

I'm very ignant, so I would've stopped and called immediately from the confines of a vehicle. It's the lawful thing to do. This timing of this post is ironic. I'm still recovering from an incident that occurred last night.

I was in the "hood" (so to speak) last night visiting a friend and a neighbor (female) was getting her arse BEAT. I mean her screams, hollering, and those thuds against the common wall of this townhouse sent SHRILLS down my spine. I got up, dialed 911, and THEN went next door to see WTF was going on. I beat on the door and this BIG AZZ 6'3-4 brotha' came to the door and str8 charged my azz up. LOL I politely asked him why he was beating the lady and of course, I was all sort of MFers this, SOB thats, mind yo' own f'ing business this, nig I'll split yo' wig like I'm doin' her'n blah blah blah. 5-0 came to the scene w/ lights flashing as he was about to commence to TRYING to unload some whoop azz on me LOL and as ol' boy was running BACK inside the crib ~snicker~ I told him: Don't worry Mr. Woman beater... This white man carrying the 9mm gun will love to fight w/ yo' azz. Why don't you fight him like you've been fighting that woman? Thankfully he didn't see which townhome I came from etc... So, my friend should be cool. :)

I'm from a different breed. Words that I saw back in 1985 have stayed w/ me for a while. They were spoken by a very intelligent individual: If a man hasn't found something that he will die for then he isn't fit to..... You gotta' stand for something. You pick and choose your battles of course. LOL It's one thing to be helpful and it's another to be stupid.

Panthro, I love you and all you just had sed and ALL of what you did. :bawling:

When I was in law school, a young white couple moved in next door to my townhome. He started beating her ass immediately. The first couple of times the screaming and thuds happened, I did nothing. It was finals, and I was not sleeping any way. But on the third time I was asleep and they woke me up and they scared me out of my sleep. I went to their door and beat on it and when he finally came out he asked me "wtf do you want?" I told him that I was going to call the police if he didn't stop it. He slammed the door in my face and for about a week there was no fighting. I rarely saw them during they day, they were students at LSU and worked.

The night the fighting started again I was startled from my sleep, I called the police, and before they got there she was really screaming and she started saying help me, help me. I got up and went to their door and bammed on it and this time when he said "wtf do you want" and I said the police are on the way, I called them and told them you were killing her. He was stunned and kinda came towards me, but he stop when I raised my loaded pistol to his face. The police came and took him away and an ambulance came and took her away. He almost killed her that night. I have lived in regret every since that happened. I should have called the very first time.

When I lived in Gardere and worked at the Casino my senior year at SU. I was driving home alone on Highland road past LSU.

Two girls who looked like children were in the road (raining) waving me down for help. The car in front of me kept going. I had to swerve to keep from hitting one of them. I said to myself that I am going to the service station and call the police... This was 2 AM in the morning. However, I saw the girls face. She was bloody and I then thought there was a car accident so I turned around....

I saw two girls. I was scared isht! I looked everywhere for someone to jump out of the wooded area and try to attack me.. I passed her slowly asking what is wrong... She asked me to please take them to the hospital. I said, "Lord watch over me".. I opened my door and her friend with an eye the size of a baseball climbed in the back seat of my geo storm...and the other girl climed in the front. I asked did they have a car wreck as I did not see their car... They kept crying..The girl in the back said "I'll never get in anything like this with you again..." I kept asking who did this to them and was there a wreck... The just cried and cried... I drive to the hospital doing at least 70 on Perkins Road... I drove in to emergency and a policeman and nurse came out immediately to help them... The policeman asked me where they were, what there names were... I had no answers except on Highland Road... I told him that I thought it was a car wreck but I saw absolutely no evidence of a car wreck...

The nurse saw there was blood on my sleeve... She immediately put solutions all over my arm and cleaned my skin in case someone's blood got on me.. .I didn't even know it was there... then this nurse (a big white lady) fussed at me for even stopping to help them. She told me the next time to keep going home and just call 911....She then found out that they worked at "the gold club"...and had got a ride home with someone who beat them up. They looked like children... They sent me on my way and I never heard back from them...

^5 Nasty! I woulda been long gone and calling from the cell. I am allergic to getting shot at. :smh:

Gotta' put the bad folx where they belong.

Seeing Spots? Remind me to unload the piece before I make love to you the next time gul. :shame: "L", you got me afraid to put it down on you now. ~snicker~

*jealous boyfriend post response here-----> kekekekekekeke*

Panthro:

I believe SS would have shot that officer in the drugstore trying to hit on her.

We don't have these type of problems in Alabama.

I was on my way to a club in Atlanta one night and this car shot passed me on I-285 (the loop around Atlanta for those of you that don't know what 285 is). It was raining that night and as soon as the car passed me, it hydroplaned and hit the retaining wall and barely missed a car that was right beside it.
My first instinct was to stop but it was raining and it was dark as "L" on 285. I got my cellphone and called the police and told them what happened. I gave them the mile marker and the exit number that it was near.
I wanted to stop but I knew that if I did and tried to help them in the rain and it's dark, there was going to be more than one accident out there. I know how people fly on 285.
Sometimes you have to put yourself before others. I hated doing that but if it were to happen again, I would do the same thing.

*and no I did not go to the club. after I saw that, I wasn't in the clubbing mood*

Now this is beyond SAD. Obviously a lot of shootings go on either at this particular gas station or within the city itself. I know damn well I wouldn't have been able to do this. I would have been screaming and dialing 911 simultaneously.

Not only did the man finish pumping his kerosene, but paid for it and drove off, giving the camera its clearest look at Price lying on the ground. That customer has not been found.

The camera also recorded several cars pulling away from the station after the shooting, with at least one car pulling up to the kerosene pump beside Price after he was shot.

What a very Humane thing to do...stupid, but humane
