Lewis said:WE are stuck in Birmingham because it was free. But free ain't always better. Sometimes you get what you pay for, and thier is a reason something is free. No one will pay to play in Legion Field or to come to Birmingham, that why they kissed our arse to get us to come.
New Orleans wasn't tryin to hear all that poor mouthin, because they know what they are worth (or at least thing they do). I think that at worst case, move the game to Jackson. More folks would even come to Jackson, but idealy, New ORleans or HOuston. But we won't get New Orleans for free, and New Orleans ain't gonna kiss our behinds to come. That would be an investment.
DAHILL said:To show how much Birmingham was committed to the SWAC, they MOVED the state football championship games scheduled for Saturday to the Hoover Met... a 13,000 seat stadium.
Sperm why do you need 14 days to plan... you have a whole year to plan... seems like you are plannin off of who is playing in the championship game. Like I said earlier.... DONT GO ..... DONT COMPLAIN.
The SCG would so sell out in Jackson.OnlySU said:Jackson...

Lewis said:Southern, (and most of the SWAC, IMHO) are a driving school, not many fly to games, and if you plan something depending on folks to fly in, iyou won't get that 30K crowd. Birmingham is a good drive away from all of the SWAC WEST, and really the only close school are the 2 Bamma school, and they won't even come out consistently to thier own home games.
Da_Sperm said:How many ASU or AAMU fans would make the drive to Houston, Shreveport, Dallas, Little Rock, or New Orleans if the SCG was there?
First of all, this is the sports board not the smack board, so you don't need to call me out my name. Second, I am being objective, and it has nothing to do with my personal "dislike" for Alabama. But since you put it like that, if it gotta be in someone's backyard, why not in SU, JSU, Alcorn, and GRAMBling backyard, instead of out thier with your "Self Admitted" sometimey fans. One of the Bamma school been in the game every year but the first, but which game had the highest attendance????? (Don't tell me about them bands either) Look at attendance numbers for the regular season?? Do you see a pattern here. You see these schools been here making the SWAC what it is long before AAMU came asking to get in. We led 1AA in attendance before AAMU showed up. I am just being real when I say a lot of the fans that have been supporting the SWAC for years and years ain't tryin to hear driving way out to Birmingham, to see a game, esp against one of the BAMA schools.AAMU Alum said:Lewie,
What's going to be the difference if the game is played in Texas, or LA? I realize that your dislike for Alabama drives your opinion, but do try to be objective. I don't think you'll find anyone from AAMU or Alabama State that will complain and whiiiiiiiiiiiine like many of you have if the game moves. Even if it moves to Jackson, that's five hours from Hsv and at least that much or more from Montgomery. I would really like to see just how many of the folks doing all the bi-yatchin' on this forum about this d@mned game (which comes up every year, as if folks didn't know the game would be in B'ham) would travel to another city if it moves.
I guess if it's not in your backyard, it ain't worth coming to. If that's the case...STAY AT HOME rather than cry about it every year. The constant complaining about this issue from all these folks really grates on one's nerves.
Now that wasn't fair, I'm sure UAPB has an Alumni Chapter in Norman, MS and Itta Bena, MS.Storm96 said:For what its worth, Houston is also the only SWAC city with an alumni chapter from each of the 10 schools.
