>>NEED GAMES BADLY.....

MAN WE HAD THIS TOPIC IN MAY.......SEPTEMBER CANT BE MOVING ANY SLOWER.....DAYUM.....

GSU has a lot of talent at the wide receiver position:

Tramon Douglas (GOHS) was a big-time recruit who chose to spurn offers from LSU, Georgia, All Louisiana state schools, etc to sign with GSU. Tramon was never red-shirted and saw some time as a true freshman and sophomore. Look for a big year

Thyron Anderson (Jonesboro High) has size, speed, and talent. Was a part-time starter last year and should break out with a big senior year. A legitimate deep ball threat who can stretch a defense.

DJ Clay (Mansfield High) has good hands, quickness and acceleration. Playing time was curtailed due to the presence of Levi Washington, Ellis Spears, Chris Highshaw, Douglas and Anderson. Looked impressive in several late season appearances last year. Clutch 3rd down receiver.

LaTroy Calhoun (Coushatta High) was an all-state performer in 2000 who was given a red-shirt year due to the depth at receiver last year.

Delvin Lewis (Coushatta High) was also an all-state performer at Coushatta High. Played qb his senior season, but was recruited by LSU, Arkansas, LaTech and others as a wide receiver. Was a member of the Morning Advocate (BR) blue chip list and was voted to the Shreveport Times All-Area team as an "Athlete" prior to being red-shirted by Doug Williams last year.

Jason Hatcher (Jena High) The total package who was All-State his senior season and was heavily recruited by LSU and others of the SEC. Has grown from 6'4" 200 lbs to 6'5" 245 and will line up at Tight End and H-Back. GSU's coaching staff was elated on signing day, but was a prop last season. Has looked impressive in summer 7 on 7 workouts! All Northeast Louisiana
selection his senior season.

Chad White (Mangham High) 6'4" 235 tight-end who has the hands and speed to cause defensive mismatches in GSU' s favor. Was Class A All-State in 2000 and will see action as H-back. Recruited by LaTech, ULM, ULL, Texas A&M . Also a member of All-Northeastern La team his senior season.

Mose Harris (Dallas Carter) a true speed merchant. Dallas top 100 and highly recruited by Baylor, Tech Tech, Texas A&M, Oklahoma State. A legitimate 4.3 forty guy who will also return kickoffs. Coaches debating whether to play him as wr or db.

Others to watch: Charmaski McDonald (Coushatta High) former walk-on who impressed in spring practice, Kevin Duhart (Capitol High School), former Class 4A all-state in 2000, and Donald Dunbar (Sicily Island High) another walk-on who was "recruited" by Sammie White. A member of an 19 man squad high school team, Dunbar has been impressive in summer workouts and 7 on 7 drills.

I don't think that just rebounding from an 8 year losing streak makes u Kings of Football. If that's the case then We (SU) r the Kings of SPORTS period. ;)

Well since you like posting stats how many years did GSU go without winning a championship?

According to the info I have, the longest GSU has gone without a SWAC Championship was 8 years (1986-1993). SU's streak of 17 years without a SWAC Championship started in 1976 and ended with the 1992 season. JSU went 9 years without a SWAC Championship (1963-1971). Outside of the big 3 . . . well . . . it doesnt matter.

Mach, who leads the series??????????????

From a logical standpoint, why dont you guys give your opinions about who will be the best WR based on his QB, how many other good WRs are on the team and the system he is in. For instance, Hankton is one of the better WRs, but a new Qb will probably hurt his production. How effective would Hayes be if he were playing with PB.

The best WRs will be:

Chris Peters
Tim Manning
Hayes (?)
Chris Jones
Hankton

....Between 1950 and the beginning of the Official Bayou Classic Series(1973-played in Shreveport), the G-MEN lead 8 to 7.

....Between 1974(played @ ole Tulane stadium) and 2001, the series is tied 14 to 14............therefore(unless someone produces games prior to 1950) the "ICON" leads the Overall : 22 to 21;)

....Prior to 1992(well you know the deal):D

You need to do better research.
:lmao:

"How effective would Hayes be if he were playing with PB.
Hayes (?) "

I think PB would be a better ball club and Hayes would be effective and cumbersome to SWAC defenses. Really, there is no competition at the WR position in the SWAC. Hayes is in a class all by himself. The 1-AA sporting news have him ranked at #3 in the country. I beg to differ and believe by the end of the year he will have 1st team all american honors. S.U. team has a whole different demeanor when Hayes is on the field. You will find this out in a couple of months. With the return and addition of some key players, S.U. offense will be lethal this year.

So if he is in an offense that has no clue on how to throw the ball, he will still be Mr. Unstoppable? Can you lay your bias to the side for just one small moment and swim in a little reality?

ACTUALLY THE ICON WON A TITLE IN 1989. THE LONGEST THE ICON HAS GONE WITHOUT A TITLE IS 5 YEARS (1995-1999)

Hayes is coming off an ACL injury. Don't put your eggs in one basket until he is hit on the knee and bounces back up. With Tulane and NW back-to-back it could get ugly. Thank God for UAPB. But I think they'll get you also.

don't hurt them GR, their blinded. UAPB has had some talent come through the receiver position but that talent seems to never show on the field. Their receivers shine on punt returns and kickoff returns. Mark Bradley is one of the most underrated receivers in the SWAC and he will stay underrated because he cannot touch the ball.

For instance, Hankton is one of the better WRs, but a new Qb will probably hurt his production.

Actually, Hankton started to shine in 99. He was the guy who caught back-to-back touchdowns on you all. We were in Houston and called the first TD back because of a penalty and they ran the same play and he caught a TD again. His QB that year was Trent Zacherie I think. And that guy was sorry. He had Lamb for a few games in 99 and shone but Lamb was ineffetive in 2001. Hankton's performance is based on the offensive scheme. While I question last years stats he could prosper in Orlando's offense despite the QB. Marcus Jacoby did somehow.

Back to the original thread: Charles Thomas from PV needs to be included on that list. He was thekid who terrorized SU last year. That was his breakout game. He'll be the main man early on until the rest of the receivers grow up. I would write all those stats like Mike Bigg did on incoming recruits but why let myself down if they don't perform? Without Brad Hill to take the load off, they might not shine.

We have running backs that will produce! Brad Hill was productive last year, but it's the offensive line play at GSU that make our rushing attack go!

Tramon Douglas is proven! He has looked good in spot duty and would have started at most schools last year. Also, because Eugene is a more accurate passer than Randy Hymes , our passing attack will flourish this season.

"So if he is in an offense that has no clue on how to throw the ball, he will still be Mr. Unstoppable? "

I think with the running attack that PB have and the diversification that a player like Hayes would bring to the table it would make a difference for their ball club. They would not be so one dimensional. That is not bias, just my personal perspective.

Band Fan,

That mess you are saying does not warrant a response. The sick contempt that you have for your SUperior is well known.
