Where will the John Merritt Classic be played?

Whats up with these promoters booking games and not having the actual stadium. This is like the 5 HBCU game that had to move in the last year

This may be on the NFL … or even the Titans. They released the NFL preseason schedule way after the JMC was announced. Vandy option can be NICE…. You are still basically downtown… its renovated NICE and seats 35k.

You're spot on. This is the only time that I think this has ever happened. The JMC used to be labor day way weekend, but it's moving around now. Of course with FCS schools being allowed a 12 game schedule now that can cause a couple of issues.

Move it back to the M mane. U of M will be playing UNLV in Vegas that same day. Liberty Bowl is ready for business. Think about that economic impact on the city of Memphis. Back to back hbcu classics.

as anal as NFL teams are about their fields, equipment that has be in place 2 days in advance, security sweeps, etc - I can't see it

AAMU and Tenn State played a day before a Titans game last season. It’s a preseason game so they probably don’t care… especially since it’s the last season in the stadium anyway. I remember AAMU playing a game at Legion Field the same day before an Alabama game….. but Legion had that old Astro turf … if I recall we were rushed out the stadium after the game.
