Would the Alabama schools' alums be adverse to rotating the game between 3 cities? I asked it like that because it seems that you guys take it personally whenever we say we don't want to come to Birmingham. So PLEASE don't take it there, just think about it from a FAN perspective:

I like the suggestion to rotate it because it would be more equitable to all of us, and may encourage more of us to attend the game irrespective of which teams a playing. I live in Baton Rouge and I have only been to the SCG in '99 and '03, when my team was playing. Had the game been in Jackson or New Orleans, I would have gone because those are day trips. I could easily drive to the game and come back home afterwards without having travel expense. This is important because I am one of the many Jaguar Nation citizens that goes to EVERY game Southern plays. So by the end of the season I am physically and financially exhausted. Only for the Jaguars would I spend the money I did to go to Birmingham. When I say I went to the game, my little "town" of the Nation consists of 8 people. We flew to Birmingham, paid for parking at the NOLA airport, rented a car, stayed the one night in the hotel, gassed the car up, ate at a restaurant...that added up.

If the game was in NOLA, I would only have to spend gas, game tickets, and would be back home before 7. And I would go to NOLA even if Southern was not in the game. Same thing if the game was in Jackson. Having the game in Birmingham EVERY year simply isn't fair to the rest of us. All of us spend MORE money than those of you who live in Alabama and Atlanta.

Let's have a RATIONAL discussion about rotating it: Jackson, Houston, Shreveport, Mobile, and God yes, Birmingham.

I am still an advocate for a Dome to play the 2nd week in December. Weather needs to be taken out of the equation for the Championship game!! STILL SHIVERING

Seeing Spots,

I didn't read your entire post, but I will answer your question.

I think that if a rotation formula were developed, it should be limited to Birmingham and New Orleans.

I have jokingly stated that Biloxi would be a good site, but in actuality, it would be a strong candidate if they had an adequate stadium.

Until the the Texas schools start winning the West Division (see LC or Johnnie Cole), Houston just doesn't appear to be feasible.

If the game were in a rotation I would attend more. I live in Atlanta and I have only been to two scg's, after going to bama twice it gets old.

NO, Houston, and Biloxi

Thank you Deuce and MH! Rotating to other cities would be good for all SWAC fans! Look Deuce go back and READ my entire post please! Remember I asked for fairness from you Bamas! :redhot:

I am not anti-Birmingham. I know it doesn't have the attractions like NOLA and Houston, but we take the party where ever we go. Some of the best after-game partying took place in Itta Bena!! Lawd it took us 11 hours to drive back to BR, but that's another post. :lmao:

I think I will get my "townsfolk" to write the Commish to suggest a rotating schedule!

It would be difficult to get a city to give the SCG perks (hotel breaks, stadium accommodations and city backing) that a game of this caliber deserves if the game rotated. The city has to feel that is getting something in return for rolling out the carpet.

I personally can care less if the game is played in a dome or not.

Let's be honest here, the swac fan base "collectively" doesn't have the money and will to support events like this in one city. That's why rotating the game between B-ham(Free facilities), Nawlins(Night Life), and Houston(A lot to do) would be best for the Swac title game. The biggest advantage of a rotating game is that you can get "ALL" of the Swac fan base involved and not just the participating schools.

I'm sure if the Swac championship game came to Houston on a "rotating basis" surrounded by "other" events such as a BOTB Houstonians would support it. But it can't be a "yearly" thing because it would get old quick and people will get tired of it. Bringing the Swac title game to Houston on a rotating basis would give Houston a chance to see a lot os SWAC schools and bands that we normally don't get a chance to see. That alone would be good for attendance.

B-ham has it merits also, thats why the game should not be "completly" taken away from them. You can't deny that the free facilities is enough reason to hold it there. You would just have to take your chances every three years with the weather. But having it in B-Ham "every" year isn't a great idea. First of all the weather is iffy iffy and secondly no one from the far western Swac schools is going to travel "all the way" to B-ham if there school isn't involved.

New Orleans speaks for itself.

AT THE END OF THE DAY, WHO CAN ARGUE WITH ROTATING THE GAME BETWEEN THESE 3 CITIES?

Lil J, I love the idea and I'm glad you obviously liked my plan too. However, why take Jackson out of the loop? Jackson allows the nothern part of the SWAC (Grambling, Valley, J-State, and Ala A&M) to have one closer to them.)

If the SWAC goes to this rotating plan, Lil J and I want royalties ;) :)
