What is up with NFL kickers?

bluedog

"Leader of Kings"
The last few weeks we have seen a rash of NFL kicker miss what would normally be a chip shot and just as many even when they made them have looked bad doing so.

What is going on? Is this the year of mediocre kickers?

I wish I knew what the deal was. Cuz, whatever IT is...I'd give IT to Chris Brown with the swift kick in the arse chaser. He's cost us 1 game and 2 more chances to send crucial games into OT.

He's been nails, until this season...*shrugs*

Im glad that these old kickers are NOT being brought back....

Draft a damn kicker and end the madness

Damn, the San Diego kicker had made 20 straight before this game and is going to the Pro Bowl this year.:(

Enough with the nonsense, dude was paid off. You don't make 87 percent of your field goals, then suddenly and mysteriously miss three straight.....at home. You don't miss one wide left, then miss one wide right, then miss another one to top it off. Take it for what it's worth.

What would Nate Kaeding have to gain by missing three kicks on purpose in a playoff game--one of which being 57 yards?

You think about it. NY has five million fans, high ratings, more sponsors, more money for the NFL. There's no other way to explain those misses. I just wonder when an NFL reporter's going to stand up and call a spade a spade.
You make 69 straight field goals, then suddenly miss three straight at home? Yeah, right.

Why would Kaeding--who is the most accurate kicker in NFL history-- want to deal with all the scrutiny from fans and the media for like...EVER by failing in the postseason?

The New York market really does not factor in this issue at. L.A. is the second largest media market, but has no NFL team and the league has done quite well. The league does not need a big market team involved in postseason games to draw viewers. The NFL is too popular to just rely on New York or Chicago to draw ratings. This ain't the NBA.

Dude, Las Vegas and the mob control sports in case you didn't know it. Millions of dollars were made by the "house" because San Diego was favored to win and win by a certain amount. In MY opinion, Kaeding did what he was ordered to do.
It's not about Kaeding. He's a small fish in a big hole, just like any other player in the NFL.

This is just my opinion, but the odds of making 69 straight, then suddenly missing three straight and more importantly, the WAY he missed them, is highly suspicious to say the least. Again, just my opinion.

Why would the San Diego mob target Nate Kaeding of all people? :retard:

Dude, who in the heck said "San Diego" mob? LOL!!

You know exactly what I'm talking about. The NFL is not the only sport either.

No I don't know what you are talking about. You still have not told me why the Chargers-Jets game was targeted by the Jersey Shore crew.

I did, you just read right over it. Any how, find out for yourself by doing a little bit of research. Carry on.....

As soon as they said he hadnt missed a field goal of under 40 yards in like 3-4 years, he missed it...

That did seem kind of funny... especially from a Pro Bowl kicker...

The way young buck was kicking for Dallas, looks like they NEED to bring back "these old kickers"; particulary...................Morten Andersen, who btw, was a kicker for

THE MINNESOTA VIKINGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think I might have to retract my OP... :noidea:

I still think drafting a kicker is better for certain teams... not first round like Oakland did (although he's been good and still has a leg), but late round...

Mort, Gramatica, Elam... these kickers are accurate even at their age, but not as much the leg strength as they used to... thats why they get cut initially and then signed later on in the season...

You don't have to draft a kicker at all, my friend. Robbie Gould, who is the most the accurate kicker in Bears history, was signed as free-agent. Before the Bears signed him a few years ago he was a construction worker. It is just hard to explain why guys are missing kicks this season.
