What is the winter like in Louisiana?

What is the winter like in Louisiana? I ask this question because I like to watch Duck Dynasty and I notice some of the shows are in the winter time frame during duck season. I see the leaves on the ground but them snakes still be out in full force. So I guess it stays warm enough where the creatures stay out or is that just how those swamps are down there? Thanks for the input!!!

It can get cold at times in South Louisiana, but it's mostly pleasant during the winter. Now in central and north Louisiana, it may be similar to central Mississippi and central Alabama.

You never visited any your kinfolks in Mobile during the winter?

Thanks. See I hunt a lot in North Alabama in the winter months and we don't worry about snakes being out. Not that they probably aren't out, but you rarely see them. That is why I go out during that time.

I bow hunt and the weather gets a bit cold and the snakes do hibernate. What I have noticed is that during warm winters the snakes are not as prevalent in the spring, summer, and fall. Yet, that's just on my family's private property where there is an open field for farming. Those stupid deer come out looking for some eats and become deer sausage.

Those Duck Dynasty cats are up in North La ( Shreveport, Monroe, Grambling area) so they get cooler weather than those SWAMP people on TV in South La where Baton Rouge is located.

I tell yall one thing, yall Louisiana folks got access to so much fresh food. I am jealous. I gotta admit man yall got it going on with the variety of fresh food yall have access too.

When you live in the lower part of the Mississippi River basin, there's plenty of wild life that's always around. But there are drawbacks, such as the Great Flood of 1927 and Hurricane Katrina. Funny thing, ole boy that wrote this song about the Great Flood of 1927 is from Birmingham, AL, but his mother's family are from New Orleans.

The Aaron Neville version with India Arie is nice. It was a very nice way to pay homage to the victims of Hurricane Katrina at the NAACP Awards.

"Kingfish" is one of my favorite songs that political song writer Randy Newman wrote, which is about former Louisiana Governor Huey Long. When I hear that song, I think of my grandparents and great grandparents who lived during the Huey Long Era. My great grandfather was from Winnfield, LA, which was also Huey Long's hometown. As kids, my great grandfather sworn to God that he whipped Huey Long's ass for throwing rocks at him.

I know this is a true story, because I heard the speech myself. My grandfather had a White uncle who was politician in Louisiana. He was once a State Senator, served on the LSU Board, Commissioner of State Highway Department, and one of the founders of LSUA. Former Governor Earl K. Long who is Huey Long's brother gave one his famous speeches talking about integration and race in Louisiana. My grandfather's family was referenced in that speech, which pointed out that my grandfather's uncle knew that two of his brothers where living with Black women and having Black babies, but kept it a secret so it wouldn't hurt his political career. Earl Long decided he would expose some of the race mixing that was already taking place in Louisiana, but no one wanted to talk about it. I believe that speech took place right after Earl Long was released from the mental hospital. I also believe they had to release him, because he had just got re-elected as Governor. Louisiana has always been a wild and crazy little State.

"Short People" is probably the most popular song Randy Newman wrote, which a lot people found offensive until they realized that Randy Newman is short.

Trying to go bow hunting with my brother around the week of Thanksgiving. Prolly go out there on either that Tuesday or Wednesday before.
