Here is the issue, SU has to play all SWAC schools beginning next year. So, that is 9 games. We can go up to 12. We will still be under contract with Northwestern. We are now in a contract with Nicholls (SMH!!!-This is not good for SU, never was and want be again). We are all but done (supposingly) with McNeese (which should be better than Nicholls, but we've already commited to Nicholls). However, it is my understanding (rumors) that a contract isn't signed. So, I would advise that we don't. Here is why.
We, both SU and FAMU, should be shame that we allowed the longest running HBCU football game to be discontinued. It is my understanding that their offers out there to bring SU/FAMU to a payday classic (like Disney). First of all, we need to play quality HBCUs like FAMU whenever we can. To heck with all of our open games being white schools. If we pick up FAMU that would be our 12th game. If we pick up McNeese, we will only have SWAC games as HBCU games and all 3 will be LA schools. That can't be to our advantage with the poll voters.
Hopefully Nicholls is only a two year contract so we can pick up Tennessee State, North Carolina A&T or Hampton, hopefully TnSU.
The schedule is competitive with that and respectable. So, the polls should become kinder to us as long as we take care of the business. I'm concerned with playing 12 game seasons, but could be the best for us in being able to schedule home games to generate revenue.
PEACE!!!
