Week 7 Picks.............

MS Valley at N. Dakota St.
Don't know much about NDSU, but I do know they are solid. Valley has been inconsistant this year. A little too inconsistant for me to pick them for an upset.

Stillman at Bama A&M
Stillman has a dangerous quarterback. If we stop him, we should be good the rest of the way. I don't think their defense can handle our offensive weapons. The only ones that will stop us is ourselves. I'm looking for our team to score 35-45 points this game (with mistakes). Our offensive gameplan is just too powerfull for a D2 defense to stop. It's time for us to start playing like we know we're supposed to be............. Oh, nevermind that above. JUST WIN, BABY!!!!!!!

Grambling vs UAPB
This will actually be a tough game I predict. PB will not just go away. Their offense will give Gram some problems that will allow them to stay in the game. UAPB won't be able to stop Gram's offense on too many occasions so they'll have to take advantage of every opportunity they get. If they can cause some early turnovers and get good field position, this one will go down to the wire. But, I'm banking on Gram's two QB system to cause adjustment problems, and disrupt the flow of Pine Bluff's momentum on defense. GSU by 10.

TX Southern at Alcorn
Tough defense by TxSU makes Alcorn a non factor early. If the QB Hobbs (I think that's him) stays in the game, TxSU may have this one over by the end of the 3rd quarter. Alcorn is still showing problems of stopping the run. All signs point to a TxSU win here.

Bama St. at PV
"Fool me once, shame on you....... :xeye: Ya fool me, can't get fooled again."(Thanks Mr. President) :lmao: Same 'ol PV. Same 'ol PV. Bama State takes out frustrations from JSU loss on the Purple Panthers.

Southern at J-State
These teams are very similar. With CJ Byrd and the other QB, their offense turns into a run-based one that all starts with the quarterback. SU is running a QB option spread, while JSU's offense thrives off it's QB's legs. JC Lewis getting hurt may have been the best thing to happen to SU. I think they are more dangerous with the running QBs. The differnce will be the defenses, and this is where JSU beats Southern. JSU by 4.

a living legend

North Dakota State vs. Miss Valley State @ Fargo, ND 1:00pm
After letting the Tigers off the hook last weekend, don?t look for the Delta Devils to get any relief.

Bison by 17

Alcorn State vs. Texas Southern @ Lorman, MS 2:00pm
Look for the Tigers to stay in contention for the Western Division crown with a solid win.

Tigers by 13

Alabama A&M vs. Stillman @ Normal, AL 3:00pm
Should be a needed rest for the Bulldogs this week before they get into the meat of their schedule and head up to Pine Bluff.

Bulldogs by 21

Prairie View A&M vs. Alabama State @ Blackshear Stadium 4:00pm
This should be an equally matched game, but the Panthers have been known to only be able to show up every other weekend.

Hornets by 12

Grambling State vs. Arkansas-Pine Bluff @ War Memorial Stadium Little Rock, AR 6:00pm Delta Classic for Literacy
This will be a hard fought game with the Golden Lions Looking for something to cheer about.

Lions in an upset by 6

Jackson State vs. Southern @ Jackson, MS 6:00 pm
Finally the wait is over and the much anticipated game between two of the oldest and most historical teams in the conference has arrived.

With Coach Richardson letting another close game get away, the only chance he has to make it to the end of the season starts here first. This evenly matched game will be everything the fans have been waiting on.

With their back against the wall, look for the Jags to come out of this one on top.

WEEK 7 in the SWAC
10-14-06

Predictions by Tigerpride: THE Logical One

Last week, THE Logical One went 2-2 in predictions. JSU and Alcorn were both victorious as predicted; however, AAMU came from behind to beat Southern while special team woes doomed Mississippi Valley against Grambling. At this point, Mississippi Valley, Prairie View and Alabama State are eliminated from the SCG. Every other team still controls their own destiny. Texas Southern or Alcorn will be eliminated this week with UAPB desperately in need of a win over Grambling to stay afloat.

Prairie View A&M vs. Alabama State @ Blackshear Stadium in Prairie View, TX (4 PM): This game is easy to call Both teams are pretty sorry but Prairie View just got their butts whooped by a team that is sorrier that Alabama State. Neither team has SCG aspirations anymore so they will be playing for pride. After the fight Alabama State gave Jackson State last week, the logical prediction is that Alabama State will leave the state of Texas with a W.

Prediction: Prairie View 14; Alabama State 30

Jackson State vs. Southern @ Memorial Stadium in Jackson, Mississippi (6 PM): This will be the battle to end all battles especially with so much at stake. Southern is one game away from being knocked out of SCG contention. JSU is riding high with a 3-0 conference mark. But let?s be honest here. This is JSU vs. Southern: the biggest intrastate rivalry in BCF. 65,000 fans are expected to be crammed into Memorial stadium to witness this classic gridiron and band battle. Both teams have been able to capitalize off the mistakes of their opponents all season long. Southern appears the most ripe for picking at this point as JSU should be able to stop anything offensively that SU throws at them. The JSU offense should be able to move the ball against a less than stellar SU defense. Yet, the game can still come down to the final play.

Prediction: Jackson State 31; Southern 28

Alabama A&M vs. Stillman @ Lewis Crews Stadium in Huntsville, AL (3 PM): There is really no logical reason to discuss this match-up. AAMU will beat Stillman before a paltry Homecoming crowd.

Prediction: AAMU 30; Stillman 3

Arkansas-Pine Bluff vs. Grambling State @ War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock, AR (6 PM): This game is billed as the Delta Literacy Classic. I have no idea what that means but this should be a good match-up. UAPB has been up and down all season so there is no way for me to logically know which team will show up against Grambling. Will it be the UAPB that drug Alcorn and upset Tuskegee or the UAPB that was beat like they stole something from the lowly Alabama State? Grambling struggled to beat a decent MS Valley State team this past Saturday. I expect them to do the same against UAPB. I am banking on a down week for UAPB.

Prediction: UAPB 13; Grambling 28

North Dakota State vs. Mississippi Valley State @ Fargo, ND (1 PM): The only logical thing I can say about this match-up is that Valley?s AD needs his azz whooped for scheduling this unnecessary cross-country beating.

Prediction: MS Valley 0; North Dakota State 50

Alcorn State vs. Texas Southern @ Jack Spinks Stadium in Alcorn State, MS (2 PM): This should actually be a great match-up. Alcorn might even get a pleasant visit from the ?Ocean of Soul?. Alcorn is coming off of an unimpressive win over Prairie View while Texas Southern is still reeling from a 29-5 loss suffered at the hands of Jackson State two weeks. However, that score could be misleading. Texas Southern gave JSU all they could handle before wearing down in the end. They also took AAMU to the wire. Logically, I think Alcorn is in trouble. Texas Southern has a stern defense and an opportunistic offense. That does not bode well for an Alcorn team with a few holes in its defense and an offense still in search of itself.

Prediction: Texas Southern 21; Alcorn 14

MS Valley at N. Dakota St. -Too much fire power for the Devils to
handle.

Stillman at Bama A&M - I don't think Stillman's lines can hold up for 4
quarters.

Grambling vs UAPB - The Tigers have too many weapons.

TX Southern at Alcorn - The Tigers D will give their O short fields.

Bama St. at PV - The Hornet's Qb grew up against JSU. Look for the
offense to click and the D to shutdown the Panthers.

Southern at J-State - Look for Coach Richardson to do anything this
game.
