Week 5 SWAC Rankings

TOP TICKET: Alabama State at Alcorn State, Jack Spinks Stadium, Lorman, Miss.
A pivotal game between two Eastern Division contenders. Neither team can afford a second loss prior to having to face Jackson State. Alcorn is coming off a big win over Hampton. Alabama State, last year's Eastern champ, is coming off a loss to UAPB.

Good observation. But the pressure's on both of them. Two SWAC losses before playing us, and they're done....I hope Alcorn wins...

I agree with you ICE

But when you do exactly what you are suppose to do to win a game and the officials steal it from you like they did in Grambling to Alcorn, its kinda hard to respect Gramblings record. The officials have cost 3 teams a game so far this season. This crap just has to stop. This has gone beyond a questionable pass interference call to not even being able to count the number of people on the DAMN field, 3 PLAYS IN A ROW.

Grambling is playing well right now, so I give props. There is no smack in this post. Even though we know my team is the best in the SWAC, right now they are only playing like the 3rd best team. Time will tell the real from the fakers.

I see J-State has migrated admirably through the first stage of decay - hope - (i.e. for Valley win '00-'01) to the second stage - desperation. From your post, it appears you have realized the only remote chance J-State has at winning the SWAC is being desperate for a Grambling loss (futile). Johnny Thomas mentioned after the gmae that the official's call was the right one. Alcorn had no clue like most of the teams Grambling faces in the 2nd half.

Name one poster on the SP that respects J-State (with the exception of the tradtionless Southern posters). Your coach runs up the score on inferior opponents, gets embarrassed by MEAC teams you consider D2, and a consistent big game loser.

Do you realize Icon Gram beat the same team, in which J-State should have lost? I watched the game with SOG this past Sat., and Doug had the reserves in early in the 2nd half. Icon Gram easily could have had 49 pts at halftime. This team has two returning on offense. Two! Games one and two, Icon Gram had four returning starters on defense (until Willie Gray returned from his injury). Say what you want about Doug, but he has a system and a knack of judging talent which are both unparalled in the SWAC.

GSUpe,

Y'all are one of the worst calls of the year from being 2-2, and Alcorn undefeated.

Even with that, I'd still rank Gram at the top. Even suspect scoreboard is scoreboard.

Gram
Alcorn
JSU
Pine Bluff
Bama State

Rob, I am kinda amped now (Sat. was my first time watching the G-MEN -- got back at midnight from Dallas, and watched the game again). This team ain't nuthin' nice. Eugene was a mofo.

GSUpe,

Eugene was 19-42. Dude can't complete half his passes if you paid him. It ain't likely that he'll keep getting those results if he continues to miss that many passes.

But I can understand your excitement.

Str8brave you crazy.the ref made the call .He should have held on to the ball anyway. You don't know how the refs are going to call it.they fumbled like that early in the game when no one knew it was a fumble.Hold on to the ball!!!!!!!!
ROBBER, EUGENE Completed just enough passes to beat th ehell out of tsu and embarass them something jsu barely did.kent accuracy is worst than most high school qbs.i rather have eugene rating with no careless interceptions.y'all lose to alcorn anyway so OCT 26 WILL BE Y'ALL LAST PLAYING GRAM THIS SEASON!!!!!THAT GAME IS GOIN TO BE JUST LIKE LAST YEAR EXCEPT GRAM WILL SCORE MORE THAN 30!!!!SAME OL KENT!!!!!!

STC,

I'm glad y'all got Bruce. Hella glad, actually. And I'm glad we got Kent. You will see why as the season progresses. As for Gram beating JSU, I ain't even worried. See, we play this thing called defense. My defense has shown that as long as the other team ain't operating with a 30 yard field, they ain't likely to score.

I watched the Gram-TSU game. Gram WRs were running free all game. TSU couldn't get no pressure on Bruce. Neither of those will be the case against us. Bruce will get a lot of heat and your WRs will be covered (for the most part, anyway). You'll have your moments, but they won't be nearly enough.

As for Alcorn beating us, GET REAL!!! We play the type of ball that destroys them. Ain't nothing changed. They are a good team, but they can't stop Kent.

And as for that fumble. Dude was on the ground for a long time before he put that ball down. No excuse for calling that a fumble. And they compound that by allowing Gram to score a TD on it. S _ _. You make a good point about the RB just holding on to it. The RB should just make the refs come take the ball from him.

IS THAT WHAT Y'ALL CALLDFENSE WHEN A TEAM THAT HAS A SAD QB LOOKS LIKE A STAR ON Y'ALL.I GOT THE TAPE.Y'ALL DEFENSE IS GOOD BUT NOT THAT GOOD.I'M NOT GOIN WORRY ABOUT OCT 26 .YOU AND I KNOW KENT WILL BE HIS SAME OL SELF.PRESSURE BUST PIPES KID!!!!!!!!HE CAN'T HANDLE NO PRESSURE ..YOU WILL LOSE TO ALCORN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WHAT THE HELL DOES ANY OF THIS CRAP HAVE TO DO WITH THE TOPIC AT HAND. IT WAS A PISS POOR CALL THAT LEAD TO THE DEMISE OF ALCORN IN THAT GAME!!! YOUR MYOPIA CONTINUES.

Here is another silly ass statement........

kent accuracy is worst than most high school qbs.i rather have eugene rating with no careless interceptions

Kent is completing 60% of his passes. Bruce on the other hand is only completing 45% of his passes. If Kent were any more accurate, he could point to who he wants the ball to go to and the official would spot the ball right there.

Grambling Myopia is still alive and well. Oct 26 cant get here quick enough to shut yall up.

Even then they stopped every team we played this year a few times per game.

Always bring up what should have happened. Hell I can say we should have beaten A&T, We should have beaten TSU by as much as we beat SU, we should have scored 3 more times on SU, GSU should have lost 2 more games by now. Who cares what should have happned. IT didn't

IT'S ABOUT ASUMPTIONS AND SMACK. I THINK MY TEAM IS BETTER THAN YOURS. YOU SPOUT OUT WHAT YOU THINK WILL HAPPEN AND GET PROVEN WRONG. IT'S THE COACHES FAULT, IT'S THE REFS FAULT. INSTEAD OF TRYING TO BLAME THE REFS WHY NOT BLAME THE ALCORN WIDE RECEIVER THAT DROPPED A PASS IN THE ENDZONE TOWARDS THE END OF THE GAME. HELL GRAMBLING HAD 6 FUMBLES, ALCORN HAD CHANCES BUT DIDN'T THAT IS WHAT HAPPENDED.

Amen Mach

I had forgotten how many times Grambling fumbled and still was in the game.

Its all just spilled milk so let them just keep :bawling: :bawling: :bawling: and Grambling will keep on Winning  :D  :D

Finally an honest look at the SWAC... Good Job

Personally, I would put Alcorn ahead of JSU but still a good observation.
