War n' Thunder!! The BEST of the SWAC!!

Man its really a pointless argument. SWAC schools seem to use their own homegrown geography. Its very understandable that the schools besides SU and GSU may not be able to afford the long haul to Texas...and most of them don't come....for PV or TxSU. But somehow they believe when its PV's turn that the distance is somehow shorter. And nevermind how it is only 1 trip for them to come to Texas but its multiple trips a year to Bama or Mississippi for PV depending on the schedule. They all travel in that little pocket of schools and call that traveling.

The only school I give merit to when it comes to talking about travel is SU since they always come and its not that far of a trip for PV to go. But they are normally the last ones to start that travel talk. Everybody else is talking about trips that their bands can barely accomplish themselves.

Yet Texas Southern made the trip to Alcorn's Homecoming last year.....
Then Texas Southern Drumline came to Jackson the day after to be in the 2006 Drunline Challenge

And your point would be.....?

Point being...................
Ya'll need to make an appointment with your university President and tell them to give PV Marching Storm their travel money and stop BSing!!!!!!!!!

Thats the same thing I said last year when your Administration SHAFTED Jackson State fans out of their 2006 Homecoming...........................

YOUR Administration needs to be aware that the only time we get a chance to see PV is the Honda Battle of the Bands.............

they should be ASHAMED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, i feel this is the appropriate place 2 put this pic.....thanks NT for it, this will definately go into the archives

2 the "other" people, this is how long the tradition of War & Thunder has withstood the test of time and plz note that the date on the pic is just the oldest pic NT could find....the section is much older....

*side note* heyal naw @ those toms dude in the middle is wearing :goof:

I see ain't nothing changed but the concept of colored pics. JSt. still got them fundamental looking negroes. They just so happened to look a lil more diverse by adding you, Danny.

In a sense you still missed the point. None of ya'll Sips or Bamas are making that Texas trip consistently so why expect PV to make the same trip in the opposite direction multiple times. I'd dare say PV has made those trips just about as much as the Sips and Bamas have made it. Its just been to Bama State rather than JSU/AAMU/Alcorn/Valley (you see how many trips this could be?). Alcorn is the only band that has made the trip to PV from over there and I know JSU has come to see TxSU once or twice.

All I'm sayin is be real about it. Ya'll makin trips in ya'll own back yard and trying to clown PV for not leaving Texas when ya'll really aint goin no further than from Houston to Dallas. It aint our dayum fault we could fit all of your states in Texas put together :p . If some of ya'll schools were in Texas ya'll probably wouldn't leave either. :swink:

....and LMAO @ Blade

When yall get a quality football fan base and start attending road games to other schools, then yall will get the visiting bands to attend your pv home games. Until then, don't even think about it.

Let me ask some of you a serious question.

If you were an administration, would you pay upwards of $30,000 to send your band on a trip with a football team that lost 80 straight games? That's where most of this travel crap pops up...the 90's. Now it's true that PV doesn't travel like some bands, but like Blaque said, we probably log the same number of miles.

Like it or not, PV has to count the TxSU game as a trip. Meals and buses for the game are paid by the band. Dallas is a trip paid for by the band. You are talking about $50,000 right there. And those are 2 games that we don't have a choice whether or not to attend.

Now if the admin scrapped the football team altogether for a year, then brought the program back without scholarships, what makes you think they are gonna send the band somewhere to liven up THEIR home game when the same band likely won't do the same for us? School is still business y'all. I wish some of y'all would see that.

^^^ Man they are still not going to understand even though its simple math. If you gave PV the EXACT same funding of say a JSU and they say they can't make it to Texas for either PV or TxSU this year(as they have done before)...then conversely that means PV could not make it to JSU, MVSU, AAMU, ASU, AlSU, or Alcorn that year. If JSU said they can make it to one of the PV of TxSU games then that means PV could make it to one of those six games and people would STILL say PV does not travel. JSU would still be considered to "travel" because they would probably make it to most of those games in their back yard and SU as well.

PV simply does not have the backyard to travel in like this clump of schools even if the administration came off the money. The only real backyard trip would be to SU.

Now if the admins would get serious about football then maybe you would see PV in more classics and then the band would see more travel. But straight money is probably not going to get it done.

"LIKELY won't do the same for us?" You haven't tried it in so long, so the ball is in pv's court. PV is usually scheduled as homecoming bait, but your band hardly ever show up for those games, so payback is a mutha. That's why no one ever gets to witness and appreciate what a quality band yall have, unless it's at a band contest.
In other words, yall scratch other backs, then you'll get your own back scratched by those same schools.

If band heads knew pv's band was coming to town, that's perhaps another 2,000 heads in the stands.
Multiply that by 20 dollars and that'll make up for your travel expenses albeit a year later, when these same schools repay you the following year by sending their band to pv's campus.

Sell that to your administration since you're talkin about business.

Since when do bands get a portion of gate reciepts?

Gate receipts translate into more funds for the school, thus the trickle down effect, meaning more money for the band IF the budgeting department is fair about giving the band department it's fair share of funding for bringing more fans to the games.

If "if" was a fifth...

Sorry...The Sonic Boom was on the road under the James "TACO" Bell era....

Admin and Alumni's need to get it together...
IF this was a White conference....

We would not even be having this talk......

Point BLANK...Schools needs to STOP being cheap

JayRob. Iunderstand your premise, but respectfully disagree. Take everythng you said and apply it to JSU, since we HAVE been to you since we came to us. Obviously, you all are a bit more broken up about it than we are. Like I said, there are other reasons, but some of y'all really need to come out of those blinders. You can't see too good with them on.

We can agree to disagree. WTH was this thread about again?

War and Thunder is VERY VERY overrated. Their cadences are almost elementary.

Put some difficulty in and maybe they'd make the TOP 5 in the swac in drum sections.

I rate them way low.

They do have style though, I'll give'm that.

Brave, you're entitled to your opinion, but the masses seem to think otherwise.

..and what does all-corn have if I might ask?

Dude you don't want me to post what talent in the drum section Alcorn has and has had.

You'd feel real bad.

but if you look around it is in one of these threads in this forum.
