Vintage PV Programs vs SWAC and other HBCUS

Christopher Edward Martin was born in the Fifth Ward of Houston, Texas on March 21, 1966. He was then raised in Prairie View, Texas, before moving to Brooklyn, New York, during his teenage years.[2] He attended Prairie View A&M University, where he honed his musical skills as the campus DJ, and he also occasionally performed with the Marching Storm band.[3]

I think he was asking about the artist known as "Travis Scott."

Chris and I shared a few classes together from day one and I tutored him DE one semester.

Warren Moon was spotted a few times on campus trying to check up on his ... lol, his sister (real sister). :D Unsure if those other Houston "Earlers" were coming around, throwing salt in us broke undergrads' game. 😂😂😂

*statute of limitations reached yet?*
Yeah we would see Warren Moon on campus.....his sister was Judy Moon...(good peeps)

Hakeem Olajawon would be there on some Sunday afternoons playing soccer with the Nigerians....(those Nigerians would have some nice cars...)

Driving all those multi-colored lambos/Ferraris and Porsches lol. They certainly set a standard that was hard to follow lol :D .

Y'all had tents. We had the lil' gym and then baby dome lol. Mannnnnnnnnnnnn.....

Our time was the start of the actually tent partys. Remember it started with the carnivals in the old MSC parking lot and they had the all night dances in the field behind the old MSC. They eventually put up tents and we would party all night long and dance up a dust storm.
Premier went to PV?

Yep, got his start by DJ'ing dances in the old gym.

His father was Dean of the College of Arts & Sciences during our stint there. Chris is good peeps. Comes from a stroooooong family. Dean Martin was trying to mold him into an EE major and Chris wasn't having that. lol

While we are playing trivia... Did all also know that the artist known as "Travis Scott," his paternal grandmother was a tenured professor for too many years @ PV and also his aunt attended during my and Chris's years? 👀

All those famous people produced from that PV era: Terry, Chris, Senora, Fiyah's raggedy ass, ... and ol' Bewild was in the backdrop sippin' on "perfect vision." (md 2020)

I don't think he attended PV, BBB. His aunt did and I think his father attended elsewhere.

You know he went to PV, Dean Martin wasn't gonna have him not going to school.

Yeh, I remember those tents but I was doing a lil' vending outside those bad boys lol. I think it was Magic 102.1 FM who would also frequent campus during certain events because I recall being hired to set up the baby-dome for some all-night/all-morning deal and nobody came in that bad boy because they priced us poor broke college students out the deal.

The 102 DJ was up there on the stage playing hella' music and myself and a few others had the entire court floor to ourselves to act a fool until it was over where we received the 2nd half of our pay to break all that stuff down (lines, big towering speakers, heavy floor tarp, ...).

I'm glad I went to Valley when I did because as late as the early 2000s, there still was the "start the festivities on Friday morning and end Sunday morning" mentality. I've seen 1-2 frats sleeping in the frat tree lol

Nowadays , you might be lucky to see the yard half full at 10 let alone pull an all nighter smh
