Valerie Hoff of 11Alive resigns after jokingly using the N-word in private Twitter exchange with bla





In my opinion she should not have used it no matter the context. Having said that neither should the dumb ass who posted it. I delete all twitter posts that come across my account that use the N word...regardless of the spelling or context. There is a poster on here that uses it on twitter (mostly in re-tweets) and his posts get deleted also. I do not want it associated with my account whether it is a re-tweet or original tweet. I do not read every tweet (especially early in the morning) so some may get by me but if I see it then I deleted it.
 
1) She should have been smart enough to know that it wasn't a good idea

2) I actually don't think she should have resigned. She was just making a joke by referencing what he said

I found his use of the word, in the context he used it to be dumb. She replied in the same manner in which he made his social media post. His outrage appears to be disingenuous, particularly when he needs to know the race of the person using the word to know if he's mad or not.

She did not use the word to be offensive . Her crime was trying to be a little too down.
 
I never thought I'd say this, but in light of this exchange, if Black people have an issue with someone else using any form of the n word, then we as a people need to stop using it, plain and simple.

No more we use it as term of endearment, most (not on this board) probably don't even know that phrasing. No more we use it like white people use the term red neck. No more "it's our word now".
No more excuses for anything, it just needs to be dropped from the English lexicon. If this were to ever happen, then people would no longer be confused and call us hypocrites.
Yes this reporter should've known better, but how are people going to be up in arms when she called herself a news n***a? The other story is that a white lady basically sold integrity to get a story.
