Good Job JSU...The swac teams are one or two great players away from making it to the sweet 16.

EXACTLY.

This "The SWAC is still too far behind" stuff is pure B.S.

I'm proud of the way our team played tonight and our overall showing. Man, our fans were all in Florida's head.

Like College Gameday said... once Florida got that lead late, they just went to their strength THEIR BIG MEN and couldn't be stopped. The absence of a couple of great, solid inside players for us is what made the difference.

But YOU CANNOT overlook the questionably officiating in the first half which changed the entire complection of the game. UF had 20 free throws in the first half....

Other than that, their size is what eventually got us. They ended up pulling down like 75% of all the rebounds in the game. You can't win like that.

Dr. Sweet Nupe,

I hope Grambling can win a SWAC tourney game next year so they can move a little closer to their goal of one day going to the big dance.

I'm proud of the JSU Tigers. They fought like I expected them to. I love it when our teams play with passion and expect to win and be competitive. There are certain teams in the SWAC that play with positive expectation and pride of our heritage.............and I will leave it at that..........Thank You JSU for fighting..........JROCK is proud of you!!!

Lets be realistic here...its usually easy for smaller teams to keep pace with the big boys in the first half. The 2nd half is what tells it all and its always the same story. It was the same story with Bama State against Michigan State and so on. There's a reason a #16 seed has never beaten a #1 seed.

 I just got back from the game, after a stop in the east @ one of my favorite adult club . I am very proud of JSU. I sat behind JSU's bench on the 17th row. Its a shame the ref's took over the game in the first half. I think Rob Spivery or a young Ben Jobe would/could have won that game. JSU created mismatch problems for Florida and Anderson really didn't take advantage of them. Why Anderson didn't play #40 more is beyond me. I was the guy with the "S" hat talking hit to every JSU fan I saw about football season.

Hey what are all of you JSU "supporters" so "proud" of ? Your team got the
living crap kicked out of them. That's what's wrong with the mentality of
so many of you clowns, you are satisfied with being mediocre.
What are you "proud" of ? That they only lost by 43 instead of 53? How
absolutely ridiculous. All of the sports talk show stations are making fun
of you idiots for the beating you took and you are somehow "proud" of
the way they played? We'll , we only trailed by 6 points at the half.......
is that your line? What was the FINAL score... which is the only
real important one...... ask your football team about halftime scores.
One of these days when we are not "proud" of a team for getting their
brains beat in by 43 points perhaps our conference will begin to be able
to convince better basketball players to gravitate towards it.
The you know who..... of the you know what.... I'm out.

STFU

Add quickness and athleticism to that size.

Anyway, despite the second half I think that Florida can be had in this tournament.

Florida made adjustments in the second half, JSU didn't. Don't think Florida was 40 points better than JSU.

The second half is usually the deciding factor because the highly ranked teams adjust, and the players go to the locker room shocked that they are not blowing the 16 seed out.

Co-Sigining....
But you do have to have the fact that the Bigger schools are the ones that are landing the stars that the MEAC and SWAC needs to progress.......

SEC, ACC, PAC-10 are getting their TV time............

It is forget the MEAC and SWAC...They are small potatoes and need little TV coverage for exsposure.................

That's exactly it. But JSU did not stick to their game plan as they did in the first half. They got over confident and got swallowed by the alligator.

They did make adjustments. I do not think that Florida is 40 points better on any night either. However, Humphrey cannot be left open to shoot a three.

That is 100% correct.
I can't believe some of yall. If anything UF should be ashamed. You let a team from one of the so called worst conf. in the country dominate you like you didn't even know what basketball was until the refs helped you out. Fundamental ball is what killed JSU in the first half and not keeping their composure. Anyone could clearly see how Florida was lost. Their players kept looking at the refs like help us before we get embarressed. When JSU was up their players should have kept going to the middle with basic lay ups getting 2 points instead of the desperate 3's. If you notice how many times they tried to get fancy with it and it didn't fall. Basketball is a mental sport on the court. Get in side of their heads and you break your enemy. Two or three good players coming on a JSU bench to sub back and forth and UF would have been done.

I bet you anything if JSU had Mickell Gladness as their center last night he would have a field day on UF when they were down.

That is 100% correct.

Thats why I wish Thomas Billups was the coach at JSU. Billups would have taken that small line-up and gave Florida fits to the end.

This loss had little to do with coaching. It had more to do with facts like, all 14 of Florida's scored baskets were made by players that were at least 6'9! It had more to do with the 62 - 19 rebound advantage that Florida ended up with than coaching. Maybe u didn't notice but Anderson did press them from end to end and forced 10 1st half turnovers. JSU used the quickness that being a smaller teams provides. But there is nothing u can do to help your 6'8 200 pound center match up with their 6-10 260 pounder or the 6'11 noah. jsu needed about 6 more stanley turners.

wow...

no comment on this foolishness. Dude Florida would have beat your team 200-10.

I agree with Cee Dog. I've been saying that basketball is our (HBCU) best ticket. We have to put more resources there. We all have DIVISION I teams in basketball and there's NO REASON a HBCU should not be in the mix in this tournament every year. A lot of us make FOOTBALL our baby when all we are playing for is a SWAC title, but a run to the sweet 16 or elite 8 could change your program forever. If we had 2 more big men on that bench (or hell just left Stanley Turner in the game. lol) last night may have ended differently.

JSU was in the game at the half because UF was 1-11, shooting 9% from the 3 point line. They went 9-17, shooting 35% from the three in the second half. The difference in the game was the 2nd and 3rd chance shots because of the boards. Offensive Rebounds to Total Rebounds, was 6 to 18 for Jackson State, but resounding Offensive Rebounds to Total Rebounds, was 23 to 60 for Florida.

UF 1st Half
FG% 2PT% 3PT 3PT% FT%
50% 76% 1-11 9% 60%

UF Final
FG% 2PT% 3PT 3PT% FT%
59% 10-28 36% 59%

JSU 1st Half
FG% 2PT% 3PT 3PT% FT%
33% 40% 2-11 18% 90%

JSU Final
FG% 2PT% 3PT 3PT% FT%
59% 6-22 27% 93%

If you think the biggest disparity in this game was coaching then you are hopeless engaged in analyzing games in an entirley different rationalization.

"Men lie, women lie, numbers don't!"

Think About It!!
