UAPB athletics receive their initial certification

The Arkansas-Pine Bluff athletic department announced Monday that its program has been certified with conditions by the NCAA Division I Committee on Athletics Certification.
UAPB, who became a NCAA Division I member school in 1996, has until June 1 to improve on two of the committee's concerns in gender equity and a comprehensive educational program for coaches and athletes regarding NCAA rules. Curry and staff will look into the committee's findings, make corrections and then submit a report to the NCAA. At that point, the committee will decide if UAPB will be fully certified.
