TXSU TIGER FOOTBALL WILL FINALLY GET THEIR OWN HOME!

Well that's always the case with TSU,lol. Anyway, at least the student body is taking the initiative. Just add extra bleachers/seating at Durley for home games and continue to play PV and Southern at BBVA

I think that is basically what Tenn. State did. They renovated "The Hole" for home games other than the Merritt classic... It gives the students a sense of being at home.
Like mentioned above....let's be real, other than the PV & Southern games....8-10K seats should be fine. Even if you fill it up those other weeks that will just make for a great home field atmosphere.....

Unless they tear down homes in the area, I don't see how this is gonna happen without being a parking nightmare

And I like BBVA

Stop being an ass every chance you get, if that is possible....lol.

Initially, those are/were my same sentiments, but on that second point of yours I've seen things happen at Texas Southern that many say an independent HBCU in Texas cannot pull off.

A school in Utah named Dixie State was in a somewhat similar situation as ours in terms of what they could they do. Notice the similarities and how similar the cramped spacing is in comparison to Durley:

This is what they have now, and notice they have room for expansion:

Texas Southern deserves their own stadium. PERIOD!!!!

JSU is unique....no one uses that stadium except JSU. Correct me if I'm wrong. Also, JSU has some form of "control" over the stadium.

they feel left out of having an hbcu on campus stadium, especially playing in a big orange sunkist soda can!
Part of the problem is even considering opinions like this. The people who consistently have the MOST problems with TSU anything are other swac people.

A stadium similar to Cy Fair with a track actually would fit if the current Rec center is removed and made into dual Rec and fieldhouse attached to the stadium. We also have drafting students who can help draw the plans for it. Parking would be the issue along with maintenance costs, etc. But the way this city is, we can get by with hosting things as well.

They don't have a student center building in the way. Moving a street is much easier than moving a building.

You have a utility easement that would also be in the way even if you tore down the rec center.

Shift everything westward a little from the student center that is not a problem.

Maybe incorporate the union as some type of rooftop gameday thing. Looks like the union side and the area between that promenade and the track could be decent enough to expand some seating.

I'm not an architect or engineer. I'm just a casual observer. There's some room to do some cool stuff. Like on that corner on the promenade between the union and Durley, put a statue of Strahan or somebody there. Some decent opportunities for fundraising with this project. Go for it! Doesn't have to be 17,000, but a cool intimate setting for football.

There actually IS enough room for track AND the field with the stands like Cy Fair without a parking lot even WITH the utility easement there. I know my campus. Why would I leave out that huge situation? Perhaps I've already done some of the measurements to envision it...
Our issue would be maintenance and parking. We could even minimize the Tiger Walk a bit and move it slightly north into about 25 feet from where it all is now and it would make the Tiger Walk just a bit thinner. Adding baseball/softball would be a challenge. But we COULD even make it dual purpose baseball and football and find a way there, too.

I'm sorry but there is not enough room to but The Berry Center on that plot of land. May be Pridgeon before the renovation but not Pridgeon now.

Look at what Pine Bluff has on it's home side and it may fit. Smaller stands like they have on their visitors side could fill in the gaps.

if their talking about 7 years out at max and 5 at least, cost will be a factor so get the quickest and most cost-efficient renovation possible which could entice HISD to play games there and generate revenue outside of football and a track meet. If it seats 5K, make it the nicest and smallest facility possible with all the bells and whistles

They need to consider all options and look at what is best for the long term and what is more cost feasible. They can actually relocate the underground power transmission lines, but they would have to get with the electric company to find out how much that would cost, which will probably be very costly. I'm sure the power company would have to acquire the properties just south of its easement, which means buying new property. The easement can be used for parking, as long as no permanent structure is built over it, which is something similar to parking under a freeway bridge.

Yes there is if it is moved slightly west and north and dropped down. It just would not have the parking lot right next to it.

Like I said...we can get it done by not listening to most people from this conference and their negativity.

Will not fit in this....

And keep the track too....

No matter how you turn it.

But you can work with this, in that same place and keep the track.

The track would not have to go. The entire thing would be loved west and slightly north. The parking and added walls aren't even necessary at the endzones.

I guarantee that there are professionals that know what to do to make this happen....

It going to cost one way or another so least possible movement as you don’t want to blow a budget on utility relocation and basically get just new stands. You want a Jumbotron, etc.
