PENN HILLS, Pa. -- Twin 11-year-old brothers were stabbed Tuesday evening at home in Penn Hills -- allegedly by their older sibling, who police say is on the run.
Tyrel Hill was on top of his twin, Tyron, and there was "blood everywhere" in their house on Richey Drive, according to grandfather Lovett Williams, who went looking for the boys when they didn't meet him after school.
"I called them and called them and called them, and finally Tyrel goes, 'Pappy, we're up here, we're in the attic,'" Williams said. "He says, 'Pappy, I'm dying.' He says, 'I'm dying, and my stomach hurts, and my chest hurts.'"
Tyron was pronounced dead at the scene, and Tyrel was taken to Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh, where he underwent surgery for hours. Tyrel Hill's condition is not being released.
Williams told Allegheny County homicide detectives that the surviving boy identified his older brother, 18-year-old Troy Lavalle Hill, as the attacker.
A manhunt for Troy Hill was called off late Tuesday night, after search crews unsuccessfully combed the neighborhood and nearby woods with dogs and thermal imaging devices.
Police are still looking for Troy Hill. They said the weapon used to stab the younger Hill boys has not been recovered, and they consider Troy Hill armed and dangerous.
Investigators have not discussed a motive for the stabbings.
Family members said Troy Hill has a history of emotional problems, and they are concerned that he may try to harm himself.
