TSU's new football coach?

Steve Wilson played with Texas Southern's current athletic director Alois Blackwell as members of the Dallas Cowboys. Steve Wilson was also Prairie View A & M University's new Head Coach Henry Frazier's defensive coordinator at Bowie State University last season.

???

C-leb, listen to me. Remember I told JSu about their coaching hire and it came to fruition.

I am never wrong about coaches.

Thrilla, we told you about yours and it will come to fruition.

What is Wilson's overall record and what was Small's before he played the weak MEAC schedule??

They were all over this yesterday on KCOH, talking more about his last season at Howard and his teams record that year.

You all.............

Should have given Wade Streeter a "lookse," the coach at Miles. He is a Southernite & maybe the best kept secret in BCF.

p.s. I usually don't give good information to the enemy camp but yall are doing so bad down there until I felt the need to give up this info (smile).

LP, Small took a 4-8 team and went 10-3 with them. Everything you said turned out to be stupid...as usual.

That is not hard to do when your program has been well taken care by the previous coach and you play in the WEAC. He would not have had a winning season in the SWAC.

You guys couldn't begin to believe what's going on.

But like I said, Friday is the day.

Knowing Blackwell is in charge........we can believe anything.

Steve Wilson Grabs Reins as BSU Defensive Coordinator
April 8, 2003
BOWIE, MD---The Bowie State University Bulldogs had the No. 2 defense in all of Division II football in 2002. Steve Wilson, who knows a thing or two about football and defense, takes over the challenge of keeping the defense as one of the nation's best for the 2003 season and beyond.

After spending 10 years in the NFL, Wilson coached the Howard University Bison for 13 years. During that time he won two Black National Championships and his teams led Div. I-AA in several defensive categories. After spending one year away from the collegiate ranks, Wilson agreed to become the defensive coordinator for head coach Henry Frazier, III's squad.

"It's an honor to have the opportunity to come here because I see this program as one that is skyrocketing," said Wilson. "I've had a lot of questions about why I would take the job as a defensive coordinator and assistant head coach. When you have an opportunity that excites you, you do what you do. Number one, I'm a teacher and they teach...I've had some tremendous teachers and now it is my job to relay all that information and put it in the heads of the young people here at Bowie State University."

One person especially eager to learn from Wilson is Frazier, himself, who said, "He was a role model for me as a young coach coming up. Working with him can only increase my knowledge of the game."

The Bulldogs success in 2002 led to the defection of several of their assistant coaches, including: previous defensive coordinator John Morgan, who took the head job at Ft. Valley State University; offensive coordinator Otis Covington, who joined Morgan at Ft. Valley in the same capacity and offensive line coach Pat McGroarty, who returned to the high school ranks to take control of the Paul VI football program.

"They have their programs to run and I wish them well," said Frazier. "In 2003, I will run the offense and Coach Wilson will run the defense. With essentially two head coaches concentrating on specific units, I think that gives us an edge that other teams in the conference won't have," he concluded.

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:  :lmao: :lmao:

Must be something in the water for both Texas teams to get head coaches from Bowie St.

Channel 26 also reported that TSU hired Steve Wilson, I guess Ralph Coopers effert to get them not to hire Steve Wilson didn't work.

How in the hell do we hire Steve Wilson as our next football coach? If this is not a retread hire than what is? Coach Wilson was the defensive coordinator at Bowie State for only one year.

Don't them fools at TSU know Coach Frazier was responsible for turning Bowie St. football program around and not Steve Wilson? Not only that, but Bowie St. had a top rated defense before Steve Wilson ever stepped on their campus.

Can someone explain to me why TSU hired a defensive coordinator form a school lower than the I-AA level? It's not like Bowie St. was winning on their level. Bowie St. couldn't even win their own CIAA conference.

We like to blame PWC's and the NFL for not give young black coaches the opportunity to become head coaches and TSU does the same thing by hiring a HBCU retread Steve Wilson.

Steve Wilson was doing a great job at Howard as head coach until the latter two years or so years. He has won plenty of MEAC titles.
