The White House announced Friday it's switching up the format of an upcoming meeting between President Donald Trump and representatives of historically black colleges. The move comes as his administration continues to face deep criticism over its polarizing views on race relations in the U.S.

While the White House statement did not detail what modifications were being made, it did hint that the administration was looking to downsize Trump's meeting with the Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HCBUs). Trump found early success in reaching out to these schools, which were at times critical of his predecessor, but the Republican leader's attacks on their funding, controversial comments following last month's deadly white nationalist attack in Charlottesville, Virginia and his poor approval rating among black communities in general have strained this relationship.

Trump will do everything in his power to empower white supremacy and disempower minorities. Expect that to be the case for every Republican holding presidential office, especially Trump.

But there's so much division in the black community for us to be able to effectively fight back ... white liberals are going to have to take the lead which they likely won't. The only strong and persistent voice against Trump is Elizabeth Warren and that's likely b/c he made personal attacks against her ... but this woman STILL voted for someone in his incompetent ass cabinet to be confirmed. Most white liberals are too damn weak when it comes to fighting their racist white counterparts.

For us we have Greek vs Non-Greek, Mason/OES vs Non-Mason/non-OES, Light Skin Women vs Dark Skin Women, Black Women vs Black Men, HBCU vs PWI, Gay vs Straight, Religious vs Non-Religious, and College Educated vs Non-College Educated. So again I feel we have too much immature in-fighting going on right now to make a solid movement like we did in the Civil Rights Era.

@tsugraytiger did you just say white liberals have to take the lead?

Anytime change happened it's because our white allies played a major part in making it happen. Black voices are constantly overlooked, white voices are taking more seriously.

Prime example, countless blacks have lost their lives in the fight for equality and there's been little to no outrage. But when one of our white allies lost her life in Charlottesville, the response was unprecedented. Racist websites were finally taken off line immediately, millions were given to anti-racist charities, the mother of the deceased woman was given a platform to speak at the VMAs on MTV, also she was given an invitation to speak to the president, confederate statues came down immediately in more locations, on and on ...
